Did you even try to read the article?
" flagship phone is tipped to feature a 200MP primary camera,"
SINGULAR is ONE Camera.
The others are different.

Yes I did however I am also aware of how the truth is frequently glossed over in press releases for upcoming devices.
The article did promt me to do a little more research and what I found out is that the 200mp is effective pixels of the single senor.
https://semiconductor.samsung.com/image-sensor/mobile-image-sensor/isocell-hp1/
However this is through pixel binning which just takes the actual 50 mp image sensor and splits each pixel into four pixels which while technically gives 200 mp the pixels are much smaller.

But the calculator is useless if you don't have precise information to feed it. As for estimate depth of field you could estimate it without the calculator.

But it is a lot easier to estimate that you are five feet away from the subject than to have to factor in that at f 1.8 the depth of field at five feet is going to be about three inches actually in focus.
The footage is a lot more forgiving as for guessing.
Especially since the calculator gives the range of in focus.
It's been working for me for the last few years without precise figures.
But you stick to what works for you and I'll be busy capturing images instead.

I have both the Sigma adapter and the Metabones adapter. When using EF lenses, the Metabones has a slight edge in focus speed and accuracy. The difference isn't earth shattering. However, the Sigma adapter is considerably less expensive. If you plan to use any EF-S lenses on your Sony camera, you have no choice other than the Metabones adapter since the Sigma adapter will not allow the EF-S lenses to mount to the adapter. I should also state that I shoot stills only. I have no experience with shooting video.

Thank you for your comparison and insight.
I don't use any efs lenses very often but you did provide useful information.

I use the Sigma MC-11. I bought it because I found someone local selling one for $75 and I had a couple of Canon lenses I wanted to try on my A7ii. It works well for photos. It does not autofocus for video.

I'm mainly interested in the photo than video since I seldom shoot video but I've always used manual focus for the times I have.
Eventually I want to get a few good video lenses for the camera since I know what it's capable of since a previous owner actually used it for video in both his studio and for the latest movie he did .
Granted it was a low budget flick but it was still decent video quality.

You open a new can of worms. When you calculate the depth of field you need to enter the focus distance. How do you find out what the focus distance is? It's not an easy task.

Guestimate but like I said that's why I have the calculator for dof .
In my case it's mainly so we can get the best depth of field while still making the best of the available lighting.
This is useful for candid event photos which is my main specialty.
I do the candids while my wife does the posed shots.
Our clients really like the fact that they get both.

Why won't these lying hypocrite Lefties in here admit that what Biden said was discrimination? They all revert back to "OH! but Reagan did the same thing" tactic. If ANY employer said and did the same thing, they would be sued and possible lose their business license. Not to mention the Lefties would call for that businesses boycott.

Because they want to use the logic of,
"Just because it happened in the past it's ok."
Of course that only applies to the things that they support.

The 200mp is actually because of composite images from the multiple smaller cameras on it.
This is not unusual for phones like that.
My phone has multiple cameras and combines for 64 mp and the image is no better than the individual 12 mp camera since the composite primarily just enlarges the image.

Rather than make two separate posts, I thought these are close enough in content to go into one.

Do any of you -

1. Use a computer as a server? I see lots of videos online showing how to use an old computer as a server for your house. I've never seen the advantage or need, so I've never bothered.
2. Put an M.1 drive into an enclosure to use as external storage? This seems like a good idea, especially for laptops, because such a drive would be small and fast. Prices of M.1 drives vary from under $100 to over $200, depending on speed and size. As far as speeds go, don't believe what the maker says. These drives, in their enclosures, can get too hot to handle after doing a large transfer.

If you are going to put an m.1 mount drive in an enclosure you will likely have to have an m.1 to Sata adapter card which is readily available but be sure the enclosure is sufficiently cooled or well ventilated since the typical m.1 drive runs quite warm.
First time I adapted one to recover data from the password protected drive before doing a clean windows installation.
I literally burned my fingers touching the drive.
The reason I had to do this was because my stepson who owned the laptop passed away and his mom inherited it and wanted to get any pictures off of it if possible.
I was using an old PC as a file and print server mostly due to the fact that it lets the entire household access the files much like a network attached storage array.
Another advantage of the setup was that I had the operating system installed on a virtual drive on the system which isolated it from the actual files and acted like an additional layer of malware protection (A necessary precaution with multiple teens living at home).

I'm more concerned with the depth of field since I can see the field of view easily.
For the depth I have a dof calculator on my phone.

I've been a long time Canon user and I like the lenses I have.
I have recently bought a Sony a7rii for which I got a good deal.
I'm wanting opinions from others who actually use Ef lenses with an adapter for the Sony Fe mount.
Which adapter do you use and why do you prefer that one?

Metabones Canon EF to Sony E-Mount T Smart Adapter V ($399) top choice.

Sigma MC-11 EF Mount Converter for Sony E-mount ($249) next choice. (on sale at B&H for $199)

The rest are of much lesser quality.

I'm actually wanting to get a reply from User ID since they actually use an adapter to put Canon lenses on their own Sony.
I can find all kinds and prices online but I'm wanting to find someone else who actually uses the product they are suggesting and not just saying it is better because it costs more.

Oh sorry...Canon adapters are pretty good for Sony.
But native is always best.

Probably so but I currently have several thousand dollars in Canon l class lenses which is why I was asking the other person who has several Canon lenses which adapter he was using

Most adapters...don't bother...

Now if you want to drop some coin for an adapter that gives you something back...

For $329.00 buy the brand new MonsterAdapter LA-FE1.

AF...aperture works ...can utilize Sony AF tracking including eye (depending on your model)...
10 FPS...supports F mount teleconverters...Lens' VR will work with Sony body VR.

You get what you pay for in this world...
If you want to use your older Nikon lenses...make an investment and do it right.

What part of my reply about having several Canon bodies and numerous lenses along with my asking for an ef to fe mount adapter led you to believe I was trying to adapt Nikon lenses?

Whatever works by the FTZ stays. The F bodies and most “old D” lenses go.

Not anticipating of a set of Z lenses. I’ll get a pancake if that is offered (doesn’t hafta be OEM). On hand I have 2 AF-S primes and 4 AF-S zooms from the SLRs. I don’t see replacing those.

I’m a longtime user of “dumb” adapters. That will not change. If a really good coupled EF-Z adapter arrives I’ll get that. I have many old Canon EF lenses for my Sonys, and only 2 Sony FE lenses.

Over all, I’ve never had any loyalty to native lenses. I find nothing about the Z that looks like reason to change that.

Might I ask what adapter you are using to adapt the ef lenses to the Sony.
I just recently got a Sony a7rii and I have a good assortment of Canon lenses and want to use them.
