Miles and miles of modern buildings: not my favorite spot in Dubai, but definitely a factor to recognize: in 30 years, Dubai has elevated itself to the highest rank of cities with an abundance of skyscrapers, figuring presently at place 4, behind Hong Kong, Shenzen and New York City.

In this set, I will show some larger clusters as well as some notable individual buildings, and play with a few reflections on the glass facades of these buildings. Burj Khalifa, the most famous of them all will come in tomorrow's post.

I have to process the RAW file first with an application called monochome2DNG which produces a DNG file without any demosaicing (or debayering if you prefer to call it).

Once converted, you can process with standard editing tools such as LR and Photoshop. The DNG files are mono files and Topaz products won't load them. But if you convert to RGB Color in Photoshop, then Topaz products will work. LR calls Topaz with a 16-bit TIFF file that is already for Topaz to use.

It is also possible to convert the mono RAW to TIFF in RawTherapee.

If LR or Photoshop is used without converting the original RAW file, it will still load, but since LR or Photoshop do not know that it is a mono file, there will be demosaicing (debayering) done and the extra detail will be lost.
