[quote=larryzplace]They can be at times... I have had to put a few down that I am sure had rabies... Staggering around foaming at the mouth... but for the most part as long as they leave my garden and garbage alone they are ok...

Contrary to popular belief, possums do not contract rabies.

I had the same problem and so severe I couldn’t even safely drive as I could not move my head without severe pain. I had a spinal ablation done about 6 weeks ago and instantly solved my problem. The major pain was gone as I left the doctors office a few minutes later. I went to a pain and spine center for the procedure. Only about a 15 minute procedure.

Never heard of a focal plane shutter in a camera like this....uses a leaf shutter in the lens and a dark slide for the film back.

Miles and miles of modern buildings: not my favorite spot in Dubai, but definitely a factor to recognize: in 30 years, Dubai has elevated itself to the highest rank of cities with an abundance of skyscrapers, figuring presently at place 4, behind Hong Kong, Shenzen and New York City.

In this set, I will show some larger clusters as well as some notable individual buildings, and play with a few reflections on the glass facades of these buildings. Burj Khalifa, the most famous of them all will come in tomorrow's post.

These are just a few of the plethora of pictures I took of the modern buildings. If you are particularly interested in seeing more of these, I invite you to go to my photo-website, click on "....Dubai" on line 6 of the chronological tab and you can see plenty more.

I look forward to your comments and questions and recommend viewing the downloads.

Since work is happening to the sensor pack I’d like to know if the IBIS is maintained ... cuz at least one of the IR conversion shops warns that the IBIS will NOT be maintained.

Seems to me that IF (!) mono conversion also loses the IBIS, then converting an a7R2 is kinda wasteful when the nonIBIS original 7R now sells so cheap.

OTOH if the IBIS fully survives the mono conversion then an a7R2 would be quite the 800lb gorilla !

Thanks for tickling my gray matter on your comment about the IBIS. I have sent an email to Daniel with a couple questions but didn’t think about the IBIS. I currently have the a7ii, a7Rii and a7Riii and may consider the a7ii for the conversion instead of the a7Rii. Not sure if I want to dedicate the Rii to strictly b&w.

I have to process the RAW file first with an application called monochome2DNG which produces a DNG file without any demosaicing (or debayering if you prefer to call it).

Once converted, you can process with standard editing tools such as LR and Photoshop. The DNG files are mono files and Topaz products won't load them. But if you convert to RGB Color in Photoshop, then Topaz products will work. LR calls Topaz with a 16-bit TIFF file that is already for Topaz to use.

It is also possible to convert the mono RAW to TIFF in RawTherapee.

If LR or Photoshop is used without converting the original RAW file, it will still load, but since LR or Photoshop do not know that it is a mono file, there will be demosaicing (debayering) done and the extra detail will be lost.

Thank you Jim. I’m considering the conversion on an a7rii.
