I pay for an artist's creative property. All of it. I do not have one pirated piece of music on any device. I also have no pirated software. None. I guess I'm just one of those old fashioned types.

All of us should be proud of you; you are now qualified to throw the first stone.

Sounds to me like he doesn't feel like he is stealing it because someone gave it to him. No matter. It's still a bastard copy.

If you didn't pay for it, then it is a bastard copy? Please check this:

Did you listen to free download mp3 songs, I have over a thousand of bastard copies. Or should I only download them from itune or Google-songs?
There should be a new topic : How many Hedgehoggers use bastard copies?

Huh? How is it legit, if you didn't pay for it?

My son bought a copy which is also loaded on my PC. I think Adobe PS allows a copy to be loaded to several PC.
Besides, downloading a latest CameraRaw is free to everybody.

Converting to dng should only be considered a temporary solution. DNG is not anything close to a universal format outside of the Adobe world, so I would strongly advise against using it, and do not toss your original nef files.

Here are three points of view - against, it's ok if you have to, and it's the best thing since sliced bread:

https://photographylife.com/why-i-no-longer-convert-raw-files-to-dng

https://mattk.com/why-i-dont-convert-dng/

https://photographyconcentrate.com/should-you-convert-dng/

I don't convert to dng. And the only time I use dng is when I edit a file in DXO PhotoLab which exports an edited dng file back to Lightroom, and when I use Lightroom to create an HDR or Panoramic merge. So rather than edit individual files, I can edit the result of the merge as a dng raw file.

But something is troubling me. You say you are using Lightroom Classic. The only way you can get LR Classic is with the $10/mo subscription or the $20 one, which gives you the same LR/PS/Bridge/ACR/LR Mobile and adds one TB of cloud storage for your images. So you should be able to upgrade your software by signing into your Adobe Creative Cloud account.

If your Lightroom is properly installed, it should recognize your Photoshop and use it as it's default external processor. It is a simple matter to edit your images in LR, then use the Edit In command to open your raw files as layers in Photoshop, and that would get you to do what you want - merge to pano in PS.

For the record, the pano and HDR merge in Lightroom Classic are faster and better than the old way of opening the images as layers in PS.

On the other hand, if your troubles are because you are running stolen software - and I am not saying that you are - but if - then you've got some nerve posting here looking for support for it.

If you are legit - then accept my apologies for the rant.
Converting to dng should only be considered a temp... (show quote)

My mistake, I am using LR Classic CC of which I am not sure if it can do pano or HDR.
Mine is a legit copy but I didn't pay for it.

Thanks for all the inputs of which I find 2 work.
1: per D850lover: download the Adobe DNG converter to convert NEF to DNG; extra step is required.
2: per MichaelH: download the CameraRaw_10_3.exe; install and work smoothly now.

I had the same problem with my Nikon D850. I downloaded Adobe DNG and it solved the problem. It converts the RAW pics into something that my PS Elements can read and process.

thanks for your input which works for me now.
I will update if ever I find a way per NEF files directly

Yes, I use Faststone that can read and a LR Classic that can process.
I am trying to do panoramic stitching in PS>> File: automate: photomerge and open some NEF files; when OK, nothing happens.
So I figure my Camera Raw in my PS not being updated could be the reason.

I used my D610 to produce NEF raw files which can be processed by my LR Classic, however when I try to open them in PS I got this error message: make sure you have the latest Camera Raw update installed>
The problem is my PS is not a registered copy, what can I do?

You might as well use a baby stroller or twins stroller. You will find a lot of used ones in garage sale.

Zomei is well built either in alum or carbon at a budget price.

Literally hundreds of options. By the best you can afford is common advice. How much can you afford to spend? Do you need a head in addition to the pod? Is weight and size an important factor? If just rarely used you probably can get by with one of the common units like Zomei which I paid $100 used I believe. I have a heavy sturdy huge Manfrotto that I almost never use since I got the Carbon Fiber Zomei.

This one is aluminium, an Amazon's Choice(sometimes cheaper at Ebay); it is tall with ball head and can be used as mono-pod.

Most taller ones have a stabilizer hook; make sure it is tall enough if you don't want to bend down too much; I guess the turn-release is stronger but the snap-release is faster.

yes, they are way too expensive and I came across this interesting article

Maybe after reading this you'll start saving up the money for one.

I have heard that with an adapter it can be used by regular Dslr or mirrorless, true?
Does it come in Zoom Lens and some cheaper versions by other manufacturers?
Do the match up of a cinema lens system a higher quality level to the high ends Dslr?
