That's good. And, it's funny.

Not for that specific purpose, but I've created and maintained several web sites. There are places that will cost you a few dollars per month. There are several that advertise the cookie cutter approach. However, I'm not sure how your domain name appears to the visitor. I've always felt it looks amateurish to have a "your_name.cheapo_website.com" for a web address. I'm much more in favor of "your_site_name.com" sort of thing.

I have two servers at Ipower and another server at Interwrx. I'm in the process of linking two of those servers together. Shortage of time is the only roadblock at the moment. An additional company which I've only read about is Rackspace.

If you are going to conduct any payments through your site, you'll need an SSL (Secure Socket Layer). This puts an https:// in front of your address instead of just a plain http://. This will cost a bit more and can allow tie-in with a bank.

Has anyone tried to create their own website or know of example websites on the above topic. Is there an inexpensive way to do it myself.stem I know I have to get a domain, an email plus a management system to create a business out of it as well . I am average in tech. skills. Any suggestions along these lines would be greately appreciated.

thanks.,

I've only caught a couple. But my method isn't as successful as those using lightning triggers. I set the ISO to 100, f-stop 5.6 or 8, and leave the shutter open for about 30 seconds. This only works if it's pretty dark out during the storm.

It takes a considerable amount of time to write to the storage device. I've captured a lot of boring sky and missed the lightning that occurs during the write process. I've thought about getting a trigger, but can't really justify the cost/time of use.

"Any thoughts about having one foot in analogue with the other in digital".

I do it all the time. Nothing wrong with that.

This 1968 photo was shot on a Leica with the 21mm on Tri-X and now scanned with some color added I think it's rather pleasing to the eye. Any thoughts about having one foot in analogue with the other in digital. I might add my original wet print made on Kodak fiber Polycontrast does have a tiny bit more feeling of depth than the best I've been able to accomplish with the best Epson has to offer as pure b&w.

Thanks!

Really nice. Luck combined with skill really worked in this case.

I take the opposite approach and expose just to the limits of the camera. The first image is SOOC. The second is my initial process. The third is my final.

I don't use any of the in-camera histograms as they would indicate that I was, erroneously, overexposing. Something that obviously didn't happen. This is my typical procedure.

Live view will get you in the ball park. The beauty of post processng is there is a lot of latitude to brighten underexposed shots, but you can't fix overexposed. So I always shoot a bit dark in live view.

Nice one. A few "hotspots" on the front of the church, but otherwise nicely done.

I've been considering purchasing this kit. Reasonable and would have everything I'd need, even duplicating some things.

Anyone have any opinions regarding Calumet Genesis lights? I bought a couple after having used them at a school photography and publishing company a few years ago. The company owned several sets of them and they seemed to work quite well. The Calumet no longer exists, I understand, but I might be interested in getting a couple more of them if they are available and reasonably priced. Comments and opinions pro or con welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Nice catch, Earl. Capturing something that most everybody sees, but pays no heed.

These were taken very late in the golden hour & I'm aware that the WB could be a little 'sus', but after playing around with them in post, I decided to leave them alone, so no advice on how to 'fix' them, please. I just like the reflections on the still water & that is why I kept them. Downloading is recommended.

Very nice, Graham. It's certainly a bit out of the ordinary considering it's in colour. Good composition and really nice technique with the colours. It's also been awhile since I've seen you post anything.

Viewing the histogram, live or otherwise, can be misleading. The reason being the histogram is produced from the processed jpg image. If it were from the RAW file, that would make a huge difference. To my knowledge there are no current cameras that produce the histogram based on the RAW data.

do any of the Nikon DX Format cameras have a live view screen with an active histogram to allow one to change apertures and see the effect of the change? I'm currently shooting a D5000 and can change settings in live view I would also like to see the histogram. Or I missing a step?
