A post before saying good night....my daughter and I visited Portland's Victoria Mansion this week. It was the summer home of a very wealthy ship/trade man in mid 1800s. (he was friends with the owners of the Waldorf Astoria) At the time he was the 4th richest man in the country. Only the first 2 floors are restored and contain some of the original furnishings. Each Holiday season, florists and designers in the area participate by each decorating one room in the mansion. Decorations must be true to the era. No flash photography allowed but non-flash is welcomed.

Wow! Ornate, for sure! Must have taken a while to do-especially the Christmas tree! What fun to visit,Pat!
Living an hour away from Mt Rainier National Park has its rewards! They say there are only two seasons on Rainier Summer and Winter. One of my favorite places is at Tipsoo Lake. They open the pass in June and close it again in November! I try to get up on opening weekend and right before they close it when I can!
