Don't do it. It will jingle around every time you shoot your camera. It will get in your way and be a general pain in the butt. And you will look silly. Please, do not do this. If you insist, B&H has them and has a little sticky thingie that sticks to your lens cap, that way, when you tire of it, which will be very soon, you can take it off with no damage to your lens cap.

Silly or not, I kept losing the caps without them..

Hi all ... Larry Prince here. Wannabe hobbyist. 70 yrs. old, retired. When I was a youngster my Mom got me an Olympus OM-10. Took a couple of college electives in photography. Loved it, but life took me elsewhere and I never pursued it. Want to pursue it now, but must remain budget conscious too. Don't even have a camera yet, but would like some pointers on a recommended entry-level (with room for growth!) DSLR ... and sensible accessories. Probably looking at stills only for now, but again, "room for growth" is the name of the game ... Motion shooting is not out of the question. Thanks for "listening" LOL!

Welcome aboard Larry. I love my nikon D7100. If you have grandkids who play outdoors sports, look @ buying a 70-300mm lens.

An 85 MM would do just fine.

I would look at what KEH has in used lenses, Also see what Canon, Sigma or Tamron has in reconditioned.I've purchased lots of camera
equipment from KEH and I can't say enough nice things about them. Great people, prices and return policy

I bought the 50mm Nikon from KEH. I agree with your remarks, Al.

50 mm lens is not a very good portrait lens for head and shoulder shots.Should have a 105 MM. 50 mm is okay for group shots.

Captain AL

Thanks, AL. I don't have room for the 105, but I am looking for an 85mm

OK, I just went to Ebay and checked several SOLD listings for your lens, they sold for, $285, $286.99, $256 and $280. SO, I would ASSUME your lens is worth about $260-$280 depending on condition. Please remember, your lens is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Thanks, Bill :]

I recently purchased a Nikon 50mm, f1.4G for portrait photography. I already own the Sigma. I don't need 2 of the similar lenses. Can someone point me in the right direction for me to find the value of the Sigma so I can post it for sale?

If you use this portrait, are you looking for an "L" bracket plate that allow you to switch orientations quickly?

Like this:

At that price point ($120) is it made of gold?
