Hi everyone, I snapped this today while relaxing with my cat. I haven't been here for awhile so it's good to be back. I used my Macro Lens ISO 400 1/250 sec f.7.1
OddJobber; I am honored by your consideration, but respectfully decline.
LAShooter; Great story! Although it does undermine my belief in truth in advertising. Ha!
nanaval; Thank you. #2 is an odd choice and not one I'd frame or display. When cropped/zoomed the vapor trail appears un-obstructed. The branches partially blocked the view, so did the camera "render" a solid vapor trail? Thats the appeal for me on that one. We're in a flight path and I'm challenged to get a decent shot of jets in flight. I have (poor) shots at sunset, with the jet glowing orange and vapor trails off the nose, engines and tail. Its a neat vision, but I've yet to capture it with much success. They're at considerable altitude and obviously fast moving. My longest zoom is a Sigma 70-300 (manual focus) and I haven't seen much improvement with tripod over handheld. I'm sure my equipment limits me, but also sure my technique needs work. Any suggestions are welcome!

As there are no planes near I have not had the experience of trying to get shots like this. The only thing I can think of is using auto focus and panning on the plane. On saying that I am sure there are a lot of people here who can give you a lot better advice. :D
Here are some rather ordinary birds in different situations.
The sparrows seem to like being in a "cage." They're relatively safe in this tangle of metal. I thought the contrasts between the old wire fencing materials and the birds were interesting.
Good ones Vicki, I have seen sparrows in a stack of crab pots in the harbour, must feel safe as you say. They got to the middle of the pile and do not seem to get stuck.
It does not denote Spring in my yard. So far this season we have had 104.1" of snow. The normal season to date is 77.6". Right now we have a snow depth of 31". The record snowfall for this area happened in the winter of 1995-96. That total was 135.4"
Good shots, if this was Cornwall every one would panic buy and nothing would move........
I'm new here and was asked to post some shots, so here's some random choices. All were shot manual and handheld. The first two with a Nikon D3100, the third used an EOS XS, various lenses. First shot saw a lot of PP, there were a lot of powerlines in the original.
Hi I like no 1 and love no 3, for me no 2 is a bit too fuzzy. Welcome.
The Florala, AL image was modified using a preset in the Nik HDR filter. The White Squirrel was shot in Olney,IL with a 5D-MKII, 600mm (300 f/2.8 W/2x extender) and the Bear sow was eating acorns in a tree and shot with 5D-MKII and 100-400mm Lens. All images hand held.
Very nice job nanaval. I have PSE 12 and struggled with the layers, just need to sit down and practice, than this would be my savior.
Thanks Moxiesmom, there are good tutorials on youtube, I learnt by getting magazines with discs. That way you can switch from one to another as you follow it. They normally have pictures you can use so you cam follow exactly what to do. When you get the idea then use your own pictures. I used to teach Photoshop basics and explained layers as a see through book and each layer is a page in the book. Once you get the hang of it you will find it very easy... :D
