A composite of basically two shots (although Rocket Man is several in order to get him to fit the loco nicely).
I will include the two basic originals for interest. If anyone would like to critique or comment, please feel free - all ideas and opinions gratefully received. In case you're wondering why I didn't ask him to board the loco in the image, we didn't have access to it on the Steampunk shoot. The colour of the composite looks OK but the other two have done a 'UHH' - perhaps Linda could correct for me?

Sure, Dave I didn't bother to store original because the app I use strips exif. So people can download yours for full size, color and info, while mine show the correct colors in thumbnail.

It's not exclusively a UHH issue, though, it's most of the internet. Use sRGB color space to avoid.

So believable an imaginative scene because of your awareness and use of light. Congratulations!

Steampunk will be the theme at Renasaunce Fair in Tampa last weekend in March. Fun time for photographers.
Of course, #1 is the ONE that says steampunk loudly.

Thanks for the help with posting the images Linda. I thought they were all in sRGB but it must only be the composite - I'll look-out for that.
Glad you like the effort.

Thanks for your comments Bob. The light was the difficult thing - I always seem to want to composite from less than ideal pairings, but I was pleased that I managed to change the man in the way I have.

Wish I could be there Don! Thanks for looking-in and your comments. I'm never quite sure what constitutes a 'Steampunk', there seem to be endless variations. Still, they all look interesting.

I'm very impressed with your PP skills. It's absolutely believable in every way. Excellent job with the lighting and shadows and steam and all the subtle things that go into this to make it look real. Great attention to detail. Have you worked in the movie industry at all?

Hi Brent, nice to see you over here - and thanks for the comments. No, but I have two offspring that have - one of whom is a concept artist. I just wish I could create the sort of thing he does from scratch, and no photography!

That's cool (well maybe hot) the leg stripes draws the eye but I like it. Your original shot of the engine is a superb study in light too. There is a two day steampunk fest at Lincoln in August, keep saying I will go.

We did some more Steampunk at Papplewick Pumping Station shortly after Rocket Man was taken - a guy there told me about Lincoln and said it was huge. Well worth the effort for a photographer apparently. Trouble is everywhere is a long way when you're on the south coast! I'd like to do the Whitby weekend too.
I'm giving Lincoln some serious thought though, at least it's marginally closer than Whitby. Thanks for Commenting Al, it's appreciated.
