Converting Lr/Ps from a PC to an iMac

I have the monthly subscription version of Lr/Ps and currently my Adobe files are on a Dell.
But I want to switch over to an iMac. Do I cancel my current subscription and initiate a new subscription when I get the iMac ?? Adobe wasn't much help when I asked them this question.
Thanks for any advice. ~FiddleMaker

Try their technical support chat, that should be more helpful. Cancelling your subscription is not what you want to do. When you get the mac equipment set-up, download the install file(s) and load. Then, migrate the images over. You can use the software on two computers at once so you shouldn't hit any installation limits. If you're dropping windows completely, come back and remove the computer name of the old machine from your account after you've got everything transferred and running on the new equipment.

Do you have it on more than one machine now? If not, simply sign in from your new Mac and install.

Just one computer - a Dell 27-inch All-in-One. I am sure the Apple folks can help me out also. Back in 2010, I had an iMac and they were very good about technical issues.

My Lightroom Catalog is on my current C: drive and also on an external hard drive. Do I transfer those over to the iMac ?

Thanks, I hope I can do this. I'm not too bright when it comes to this stuff.

I was going to look for that link. Victoria's explanation is as good as it is going to get.

Right! I'm running the same copy of LR6 on a Mac and a Windows machine. That's allowed.

No. Install the Adobe Creative Cloud application on your Mac. Then, assuming you’re going to run Lr Classic CC and Ps 2019, install those from the Creative Cloud app.

Next, assuming you’ll process on the Mac instead of the PC, copy your Lr catalog from PC to Mac, via flash memory, portable drive, or peer-to-peer network. (Apple Migration Assistant is another option; it comes with every Mac.)

Finally, copy your images to the Mac, using the same sort of directory structure used on the PC. Then open the catalog in Lightroom and re-link your images to the catalog.

You can have both versions for the price of one. I have LR loaded on my PC and also my new MacBook Pro which I use most of the time. The only problem is I hav not tried to move my Photo’s from my PC to my Mac.

Currently, all 6,000 images among around 155 different folder names reside on a 1 TB Seagate external hard drive. All my RAW files also reside in a separate folder on the external drive (as well as the Dell).
When I work with an image in Lr, I import it from my RAW images folder and when I am done processing, the image gets exported as a JPEG to a subject-specific folder. I know that the images can be imported from the SD card directly into Lr, but I am not smart enuf to figure out how to do that. I have to keep it very simple for my feeble brain.
