While kayaking through Robinson Preserve in Bradenton, Fl I came to appreciate the challenge of bird photography, of which, I have no experience. Especially after viewing magnificent images here on UHH. Floating around in a kayak trying to capture a sharp image of a bird who apparently did not understand "sit-stay.." will take more learning and practice on my part. With that said, here are a few images I came up with. I was on shore when I snapped the Blue Heron photo. Comments, suggestions and critiques welcomed.

Thanks. While not as sharp as I'd like, the reflection of the birds seems to form a heart shape.

Very nice work! Not everything has to be in extra sharp focus to be appealing.

All of them are really nice. I love the Yellow Crowned Night Heron, it's rare to get a good photo of those guys. A couple of them are a bit soft when enlarged, hard to say why.

You did very well! I recommend that you check the "store original" box so we can see the original size image.

Is there a way to check the box after the fact or would the images need to be reloaded?

The first 2, the Roseate Spoonbills, are very nice. The dark background really emphasizes the color of the birds. Yes, it is always good to have super sharp, very finely detailed, shots, but sometimes the overall ambiance of of the shot is enough to make it an appealing shot. IMO these first 2 accomplish that.

Thanks for the comments. I agree, composition generates the initial emotion when viewing an image which i believe to be one of the most important elements of a photo. We strive for perfection through learning and practice.
