Love the choice of B&W, perfect for this topic. Also like the figure next to the stone for showing scale. Well framed. All to gather an interesting & excellent photo.
Here are some from the St. Cuthbert's graveyard. Like most in Scotland it is a fascinating place.

Or the bird in the tree? Those are really big tombstones, BTW!
For big tombstones you have to go south to the Borders. Here are some from St. Michael's in Dumfries where Robert Burns is buried.

Have you ever been inside of the church? It's gorgeous - we attended both the Christmas and New Year's services there and then stood in the graveyard to watch the fireworks from the Castle.

This is perfectly captured and framed, Sue, and has a wonderful sense of place.
I loved the photos and the lead to the location. Going to Edinburgh in October; I would welcome any additional tips.
Fantastic!!! Black and white is usually not my favorite.....but I LOVE this photo. (The man looks like a ghost.)

Edinburgh is great - we stay in a self catering flat (#1 Grassmarket) at the bottom of the Grassmarket - there is a great view of the Castle from the living room window. We do self catering rather than B&B's whenever possible because they are usually less expensive and are a whole flat rather than just a bedroom. There is a Sainsbury's grocery store up the hill from where we stay and it's easy walking distance to the Royal Mile. If you attend church, St. Columba's Free Church of Scotland is located at the base of Castle Hill - we attend there when we're in town. Deacon Brodie's Tavern and The World's End are two good restaurants - there is a place called "Oink" on Victoria street which serves shredded pork sandwiches - they go through an entire pig every day. The train service is great if you want to take a day trip outside of town - it's about a 90 minute ride to Stirling. Make your reservations via the internet ahead of time for a deep discount. Museums and art galleries are free (they take donations) and high quality. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes since you'll be doing a lot of walking and if you can, climb Arthur's Seat for a great view of the city. I've done it twice and am hoping to do it again if we return in September. The people are friendly and most areas of the city are quite safe. Enjoy your trip and take tons of pictures!!
