Another vote for the EOS R

First I'd like to thank those on UHH for their EOS R contributions as they aided me in my research. I've had an interest in mirrorless for quite a while and spent allot of time watching the technology.

Finally I decided that there was always going to be something lacking in people’s minds for any particular hardware release. So I decided to make a decision based upon my shooting preferences and what was available.

I am coming from a 70D so I assume I would be seeing significant improvements in capability as opposed to those that have been shooting higher end cameras all along.

The first thing that I noticed is that the hardware appears to be totally software controlled. Not that the previous cameras were not. It's just that the interface is more demonstratively pronounced on the software side. For me it was easier to understand since I come from a computer software and hardware background.

Speed - Wow this was a real surprise I didn't expect the almost instantaneous movement through the menu system, focus, and Exp Bracketing.

EVV - I was very pleased to see that this was done so well. Resolution is great and the sensor that turns off the screen when your eye using the eye piece is a nice feature. Although this can sometimes be irritating when using the menu system as the screen will turn off if you get a finger too close the the eye piece sensor.

IQ - Big plus

APS-C - good and bad. Although the camera does switch into aps-c mode when using those lenses with the adapter, It only works for canon lenses and those third party lenses that have the appropriate software updates. My Tamron didn't work so I have the dark ring in my pictures. I can remove it in PP but I need to examine this more closely.

Speedlite - I have never been very good at working with my speedlite (430EXII) so I have more work to do there.

All in all I am very satisfied with the operation and performance so far., so much so that I will probably sell my 70D and accessories at some point.

Yes, I considered that but it is the only lens I have with reach. It has always been my walk around. I've seen good prices on a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM Lens but I'm not sure as the reviews seem mixed.

Every review I've seen of this lens has been great as well as examples posted to UHH.
