Hi debk - Thanks - I went to your link to have a look at your 365 challenge series. What a great idea and a beautiful set of images.
Here are a few I was most attracted to:
Day 2 (is it an octopus or?), days 30, 41,54,17 & 19 & 20 (are they from the same cafe? I love Pizza & Parm - I'm Sicilian). You must be from a very cooldd place.
Best wishes on the project. It's a great start.

Thanks atzed - I have heard lots of conversion stories like that...which continues to bolster my confidence in my decision to buy the
Olympus e-m5ll. Lenses will be another few sleepless nights. Really appreciate your response. Good luck on your next trip adventure.

Dear Hedgers,
With all your help & generous advice I am narrowing my focus & upping my price range search for a camera that I will be satisfied shooting. What do you think about the Olympus E-M5ll??
Comments ? Anyone had experience with this Olympus or it's comparable products?? Comments??
Thank you.

I switched a few years ago. I have become a micro 4/3 Olympus junkie. I started with the OMD10 Still a great camera. I bought The OMD EM5 mark ii used (saved a lot) and have never been sorry. It's a great machine. I did also upgrade my OMD10 to the mark ii model. This is kinda my go to camera (with the extension grip). its small, light weight and Image quality is awesome. I prefer it over the newer mark iii. The extras they incorporated in the mark iii have kinda become achievable with the new software. They also eliminated the extra grip and replaced it with a case kinda grip. Anyways, If you don't need a weather sealed camera (most of us really don't). and you can do without the couple of extras you get with the EM5 ii, like the HiRez mode and couple other seldom used tools. You can save money buying the OMD10 ii. There are some subtle trade offs between the two models. If you are looking to make a switch and need keep the cost down. I would do the OMD EM10 mark ii. Go on line read through or watch video's of each model. It will prolly help with your choice. I also, have the OMD EM1 mark ii. This one does it all. So if you can push you budget a little more and have only one camera body. Take a serious look at the OM1 mark ii. You can also get a prolly good deal on the OMD EM1 (it is also a great camera) But the OMD EM10 mark ii and the EM5 ii. have more cool stuff. GOOD LUCK :) have a great day.

Wow. That's a very generous offer. I appreciate it and will very likely take you up on it in the near future.

Hey Frankie - great information. Now I have more decisions to make, but let's face it, it's fun and these are what my wife calls luxury problems....and your response gives me information and alternatives.
Thanks again.

On the medical side, I absolutely insist that ONLY Olympus Colonoscopes be used in the labs that I visit. on that note, I bought my first Olympus digital PRO level camera, the Olympus E-1 in 2003 when it hit the market at $1900. I have used almost every digital variation of Olympus from then until now.

In addition I've been an Olympus film user since prior to the OM series that came out in film in the Seventies. I still have a few Olympus film camera's in the OM-1 to OM-4 range.

The doctors I visit love it when I tell them, "If you're going to stick that thing up my ASS, it better be Olympus!!!!

The MkV. Version II is one of the best variants. I use the High Megapixe rating function (40MP) to convert my old slides to digital from film. It's perfect and easier to use for than than a scanner. I use the MK5-II, the Hi Rez function, a bellows, a macro 60mm lens, and a slide copier. Have not used scanners since arriving at this method.

I had Olympus Pen for a few years (E-PL5 and E-PL7) and loved them as light carry around cameras. Then last August I purchased an E-M10 III, but after only a couple hundred shots the shutter jammed and would not function. It was just past B ad H’s warranty, so I sent it to Olympus. They had it quite a while, and in the meantime I got antsy and bought a Panasonic GX85 so I could use my lenses (Oly 25 f1.8, 45 f1.8 and 45-150 f3.5-5.6). I like the viewfinder on the corner of the GX85 better than the top center of the E-M10 III, but I like the color depth of Olympus a tad better. I think I am going to give the M10 III to my Gr. Granddaughter for a 4H photography project. I wish I had gotten the E-M5 II in the first place.

I own and use the EM5ii and I strongly recommend that before you buy rent and use one for a week or so. I find the menus might as well be in Japanese, they are that hard to understand. I'm waiting till Panasonic comes out with one that I like better. They're getting closer.

Thanks...I've heard that same complaint. Maybe they are not well translated. Debk recommended a book by Darrell Young - Mastering the Olympus OMDe-M5ll. May help. It's on Amazon, but what's not.

Short and sweet - been a photographer for over 70 years. Have owned many brands in my lifetime. Bottom line, own EM5 MII and EM1 MII. Love these cameras you can't go wrong with the Olympus line.

Why do you say that? Is it for the dual IS?

Thank you isob - appreciate your comments. I'm pretty set on the e-M5ll. There will be naysayers and skeptics. A lot of subjective feelings, albeit not without experience. I respect them all. Thanks again.

proud owner of 2 em-1 bodies, and 1 em-5. All are first gen. models.I prefer the size of the m-1 bodies with the battery grips. But, the m-5, being a bit smaller even with the grip and battery holder makes an excellent carry around camera.Great for street photography. Easy to carry around, and small enough not to be too intrusive when photographing people. Love these cameras. They take excellent pictures, even under less than ideal lighting conditions. Did a photo shoot not too long ago of some steam trains at night under available light. iso was 6000,shutter was somewhere around 1/6 sec. Got some excellent details of the engines and even close ups of thing such as the small metal plate mounted on the side of the boiler designating the place and date of manufature . that plate was about 10" square shot at approx. 15' . Every word was crisp. These are real nice cameras. As i said, mine are all first gen. models all with updated firmware.I would like to do the m-1 mark ii at some point. But I have absolutely no issues with olympus equipment.Ther is no one perfect camera, but olympus packs some serious technology into their products.Even my die hard nikon friends are starting to appreciate what i can do with my itty bitty sensors. Go for it.you won't regret it.
