Gregory was one of my first photo buddies when I joined UHH and remains one to this day. He was always a perfect gentleman and took such joy in photographing the beauty in the everglades and sharing it with others. Such a tragic loss for all who knew and admired him. We will miss him.

So very sad to hear this news.... Gregory has always been one of my buddies for a long time and I so enjoyed his bird photography and his kindness...
In my heart I know he's flying high with them.
RIP, my friend....

I always admired his striking and beautifully crafted images of birds. Regrettably, I never had the pleasure of communicating with him but for me he was always the "BIRD MAN" of this site.

He leaves us with a lovely body of work- a legacy.

Besides his mastery of technique, his love and respect for nature and wildlife is apparent in each and every one of his images.

Condolences to all that knew him.

Not an easy thing to absorb right now. I hesitate to look back at my PM board to see how kind he was and to know he is not going to be on here anymore. One thing I always knew - when I double clicked on one of his photos I was going to be impressed. UHH lost a great member.

Gary, first, thank you for this post. Do you know what from?

I have only got to know him via this site in the last 6 months or so. He became a friend almost after my first post and I was going to try to see him this spring. I now have a hole in my heart for the lose of a friend whose hand I never got to shake. May God invite you to photograph all of our friends in heaven.

Greg

I don't know what happened. I tried to google a newspaper where he lived, to find an obituary but there was no obit at the time. My wife and I were going to meet up with him this spring. He had been so nice to me. I PM'd him on a few of his shots. They were amazing and I wanted to pick his brain. I said Gregory my wife and I are going to retire in a couple years and we are going to look at properties near you. I would like to buy you a coffee, to thank you for all of your pointers, etc... He said I'd love to meet up with you two but instead of coffee, let's go shooting in the glades. He said I will show you places you would normally never see. We were really excited to meet him. On top of being a gifted photographer, he was so willing to teach a caveman like me. I'm deeply saddened at his passing. What a loss for UHH. Gary

It is with a very sad heart that I read today on the Hog of the passing of Gregory. He was a dedicated birder who operated out of the Everglades and was an inspiration to me for the several years that I knew him. He was always willing to meet and take out a fellow birder to show his favorite spots. His work was simply superlative! RIP my friend, you will always be in my heart.

I'M going miss Gregory's fantastic images, Wish I could have met him.
R.I.P. Gregory

Sad Corky. I got a chuckle thinking about your Great Blue Hering image though. Gregory would have enjoyed those.

I read my reply yesterday and didn't even notice my misspelling, Jan and then this morning was again looking at the replies when all of a sudden that almost "Red" Hering stood out and think Greg would have gotten a kick out of that! Take care!!
