God this is terrible, Nimbu and had sent Gregory a PM on the 7th and again this morning sent him another PM with images of three swamp birds saying that they missed him and to get well soon, trying to cheer him up!

It is with a very sad heart that I read today on the Hog of the passing of Gregory. He was a dedicated birder who operated out of the Everglades and was an inspiration to me for the several years that I knew him. He was always willing to meet and take out a fellow birder to show his favorite spots. His work was simply superlative! RIP my friend, you will always be in my heart.

Gary, first, thank you for this post. Do you know what from?

I have only got to know him via this site in the last 6 months or so. He became a friend almost after my first post and I was going to try to see him this spring. I now have a hole in my heart for the lose of a friend whose hand I never got to shake. May God invite you to photograph all of our friends in heaven.

You know, it's very strange Greg because I first saw a post early yesterday announcing his passing(it didn't say from what). I was shocked and didn't respond immediately because I wanted my response to include A photo of him that I took several years ago which would take some time to find.

After locating his photo I couldn't find the original post(still can't) and don't remember who the OP was either. I wasn't aware that he was even ill, but another Hogger told me that he was having hip surgery. I don't get any response from his phone number.

I know he lived alone and when I met him he lived in Everglades city. Then the last hurricane destroyed his residence and he stayed for awhile with Hogger Larry( madman) until he got another place, this time in Big Cypress preserve in the Everglades area.

He was a generous wonderful man who loved the outdoors and birding. He will be sorely missed here.

Gary, I remember Gregory posting that he had a hip replaced and that the first two did not work, so he was recovering from his third hip replacement. Even though I never had a chance to shake his hand, I will miss him since we both had the same first name and the love of the Everglades.

wow - I am sorry to hear this. He was a fantastic photographer and I know he never hesitated to meet fellow Hoggers to show them around his stomping grounds in the Everglades.
