Marty Wild's comment is spot on. No need to insult this guy.

I'm leaning towards the D7200 because it's really good in lower light conditions and it's smaller and lighter and has higher resolution than the D500. I like the 28-300 because even on a crop body it's plenty wide for the flower show and the 300 end comes in quite handy.

Sounds like a plan.

I'm still trying to figure out why you
need a 200mm or a 300mm for a
flower show. You taking pictures from
the parking lot?

FWIW, the user may not know the
actual figures, but he has used this
lens before so even without all the
figures he knows its behavior and
its results. But in explaining to you
who has not [?] used this lens, it's
easier to put it numbers:

At a flower show, snapping pix of
blossoms and clusters, the lens in
question has a maximum long end
of about 140mm, IOW, around the
perfect FL "long macro" for the job.

What?? You still haven't figured what you should use? Wow.
What position did you hold as an analyst?

I bet it was one which gave him the skill to recognize you as a troll in under one sentence.

The Canon is full frame and exceptionally larger and heavier. My two top considerations are weight and image quality. The Canon is more megapixels but will 6 more megapixels really matter if I'm not planning on a lot of cropping. I've decided, all things considered, the D7200 and Nikkor 28-300, 42-450 equivalent, should do an excellent job at the flower show.
If I get any photos I feel are worth sharing, I will definitely do so.

For top notch image quality at a flower show, take a long (e.g 100mm) macro and a standard macro (50 or 60mm) with your full frame and you cannot go wrong. There are times when you are lucky, you want to include a butterfly or bee or ladybird on the flowers or leaves and you will be glad you have the macro. Also take a water spray to enhance the effect with water droplets. A little bit of water won't hurt the flowers or plants.

Flowers? You need a D850 for flowers.

Assuming you have a smaller lens you can use for carry-around, then my first thought is the M50.

The big lens is more versatile, but I wouldn't want to carry it around all day. Put a smaller lens on that, carry a macro tube in your pocket, and you can go all day with no camera bag.

To have that many different cameras is the problem. You have to learn to use them all to understand which one to use. I would just pick one (Even if you have to close your eyes to do it) and learn to use it. All will work NOW come the question--- What lens too chose...

A good idea assuming the wife is not going to find other things to have you carry once you are at the show.

And then you have to carry it around when you go across the street to Reading Terminal for lunch. Very busy in there. Bassetts Ice Cream Rocks!!!!

Jeez people- did everyone forget to take their antidepressants today!!

If it was me I would not take a zoom but rather a fast, lightweight 50 mm lens and capture what
I could with that lens on my full frame camera. Have fun.

You've been here longer than I have. One thing I discovered early on, this site is inhabited by a whole lot of miserable, opinionated grumpy old men who live to annoy innocent victims with their dull minded wit. I just consider the source and gleefully accept their anger because I'm not one of them. Plus most of them haven't a clue or concept of what social media really is. I could use the ignore feature but what's the fun in that.

I'm with you rmorrison1116: I thought this was forum for exchanging ideas and sharing things in general to do with photography, in a helpful manner, not useless snarky undeserved BS. If they nothing nice to say, or have no useful information, why even post? Snarks impress no one, except maybe others snarks.

Take the Mrs. and a comfortable gear set and enjoy the flowers and show, take lots of fine pics to share!!!

Thanks for telling us of your inventory. Now do you need help in choosing a car to take you there?
