Have you done a marketing survey? Like who is doing what and how many will photographers who do the type of work you are interested in are there, and will the market support another shooter?
Do you have a target demographic/client type that you want to work with?
Do you have a marketing plan?
Do you have a business plan?
Do your goals correspond to what is possible doing the work you would like to do in your target market?
Can you make enough with your idea(s)?

But the biggest question has to be - Why would someone want to hire you? Most people have some idea of all of the above, but choke when it comes to answering this question.

Along with this you have to consider how good a salesman you are - and since you are in a service industry, how exceptional your customer service skills are. At the end of the day, I can give a camera to a chimpanzee, teach him/her how to use it, and it will likely take pictures as good, if not better that the herd of paparazzi out there with everything from a cellphone to a Phase One. But when it comes to people skills - an essential component to delivering a high level of customer service - you either got it or you don't. This is something that must be innate - though if you don't have a natural tendency to work in service to others, you can learn some of it, you won't likely reap the rewards until you have made it part of your personality.

There is no magic bullet or short cuts in this or any other business - and you have to create your own magic - give people a reason to want to hire you.

I will give you a clue - it has almost nothing to do with how nice your pictures are. And another clue - your most successful clients will come from a high-energy effort on your part to network with people who might want to hire you to do the work you want to do. There is no substitute for hard-core networking.

For example - high school senior shoots - I'd be knocking on every door of every school getting to the correct level of contact (decision maker) to make a case for yourself.
If you want to do corporate portraits - I'd start with HR and work my way through the maze of middle management until you find the right person. And so on.

You may want to find an established photographer to work with or even intern for - to get a sense of how the business works from the inside.

I agree. After looking at your website, I think it has some nice shots skillfully presented. It doesn't give me any sense you want to be my photographer or what I would hire you for. It comes across more like the many personal websites that showcase nice photography and if I like something on it, buy a print.

You post you are pursuing doing portraits, then the landscapes are confusing and I never got the distinct knowledge you are a portrait photographer. The portraits section, to me, has too many shots, too many similar portraits and of the same models. You need to brutally cut and add variety environmentally, gender, age and subject matter to show your versatility.

Hi All, well, after a year of study, practice, and many free shoots, I think I’m finally ready I market my photography business to paying clients. I have a website, but I’d love to know where the professional photographers here advertise their business. I spoke to Groupon, but after they collect their extortion fee, there is very little left for the photographer. I’ve also tried Craigs List but for some reason my ads are flagged for removal and now my credit card must be blacklisted because the site won’t let me try again. This group has always come through in the past, so I look forward to your creative suggestions for how I can market my new business. Thanks!

When I started out in wedding photography I wrote to brides when their engagements were announced in the paper. I got maybe one reply out of every 10 letters but that helped and once I started doing weddings and word of mouth started, a year later I was up to my (you know) in wedding photography business.
Just remember, folks who are happy with your work will maybe tell one person about you, folks who are not happy with your work will gladly tell 20 people or more.

Pat your website looks very good. Your work is good. But I can sympathize. I have been a producer for years and am now struggling to work as one man shop with freelancers. I do mostly video. And PR images. So don't drive yourself crazy.
Move on suggestions.
Not sure what you are selling? Landscapes print for art sale. Protraits for reasons family, wedding, for work corporate etc. I have had this problem IDing what I sell what is the product. You need to be on Facebook big time. Attached my latest handout for content marketing and videography. You need to be on Instagram big time. All the social networks. More types of photograph. Maybe shoot a local business or store doc story. Make some prints and lend them to restaurants or a coffee house.
May here would tell you this is not easy. Selling art and advertising can be painful. The site seems about you and not what I would like for me. A photographer Len Metcalf sends me a photo a thought everyday. attached. My handout for my work is attached. A handout with samples might help. Good luck.

First of all you need a Google+ presence. You need, according to the algorithm "gods" at Google a minimum of 5 reviews to "exist!" I have 111 5 star Google+ reviews. You must ask your clients for the reviews.
Join business networking groups. Unfortunately, networking takes time.
Have a business page on Facebook. Then join local groups like Northbrook Moms. Today I will post a images of a woman in her 9th month of pregnancy. Between all the groups, I will reach 3000+ people today!
Print media is worth less today!
All of my suggestions have $0 dollar cost. However it takes time.

You most likely already know, as a business person the importance of "Copyright" your images. Also, Model release may become an issue one day. There are people out there that look for any reason to Sue and get free money.

Throwing in my $0.02 worth.
Your site has many different wonderful images, however you do not specialize in anything. People want to hire specialists.
Choose one, perhaps two types of photography.
Identify how people that hire photographers for those types of work. Essentially, sell how your customers buy.
Focus exclusively on one or two things and build your business.
Right now, you are shotgunning for business hoping you hit something.

The best of success

Again, my $0.02 worth.

They call it an "elevator presentation".
Assume you have 30 seconds to share what you do.
You need to be concise, enthusiastic and peak an interest.

No Masters Degree, just a lifetime of sales.

Start with the most recent Photographers Marketplace 2018

https://www.amazon.com/Photographers-Market-2018-Noel-Rivera/dp/1440352534

FortyFirst Edition. I have purchased many over the years.

There are some local shoppers or papers that use (free) how-to short articles. I gave these places ones on how to limit computer stress, etc. Perhaps something on "5 Things To Look For When Shopping For A Wedding Photographer" or replace wedding with professional, portrait or whatever.

As we all know, there are too many "fauxtogrphers" out there. One Tuesday I tutored for ONE HOUR a person who just bought a DSLR on Monday and was going to shoot a wedding on Saturday. They didn't even have a flash.

Get on Nextdoor.com, it's a social media site that is restricted to neighborhoods. but allows for advertising spot in wider area. It's like a mini facebook restricted to geographic area.

My first thought too. Stay away from Groupon.
