When you put a slideshow on youtube, you can control who sees it. My family is dispersed as well, but only who I want to see it has the link..it is not public

Yes, so does Vimeo. There are excellent privacy tools on both. The problem is that YouTube has programming that filters for copyrighted content. It is know for stripping music tracks when their computer thinks it is copyrighted.

Youtube has a section where you can get free music as well as music you can pay for the right to use - a big selection: https://www.epidemicsound.com/?_us=adwords&_usx=generic&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIisLp56zm4AIVSr7ACh1jCwakEAAYASAAEgIQm_D_BwE

Using music from youtube is the best way to get past their filters and distribute your video with minimal complications unless you hand out recordings on DVD or blu ray which can be problematic for people who do not have players.

What slide producer are you going to use?
Check out ProShow Gold. It has a lot of Music included free.
Easy to use and has a built in Wizard to help you.

I'm doing my slideshow in Lightroom. It's my first time using it and it's pretty easy to use. I do all my post processing in lightroom and I put all my files into a collection and then added the music. It's pretty much done, except for the last few BB games they will play this week.

I used to do sports slide shows in the late 80's to mid 90's for my daughters high school
I used to start each show with "Be true to your school" by the Beach Boys. It really set the tone.
