Saw this advertised on a news feed titled “five kitchen devices on sale this weekend”. It’s supposed to make it easier to clean your microwave. Put a solution of vinegar and water in the device and microwave for, I think, about 5-7 min. Presumably, the interior will then easily wipe clean. Sounds intriguing, but but have not read anywhere about effectiveness. Also, wonder about long term effects, if any, on the microwave. Dozens listed for sale on eBay. Most have positive record of 95-96% and very low sales record.
Comments, anyone?

All I do is boil 1/2 cup water for a minute or three to steam up the inside, making any dirt/food splatter soft and removable.
You don't need no stinkin' special "Microwave Cleaner"....

I just use a damp sponge and some paper towels. Sometimes I spray some Lysol cleaner in there first to soften the splatter. I also yell at those that I see that have a problem listening to me by NOT covering their food before nuking it. Yes, I yell....

We use a solution of vinegar and water in a spray bottle for all kitchen cleaning. For microwave just spray a couple of times and wipe out.

Yup, some stuff blows up. Peas blow up.
Clean it before they dry.

Yup, you can usually hear something blow up and that's when you know to check. But not everyone is so observant.

All you are looking for is a mild acid - vinegar, lemon, carbonated water, OR sugar....so Cola will also work. (They leave old car body work parts in molasses and water for a week or two and it removes rust without damaging !)

In the microwave boil a cup full of water and a little lemon juice. It is all you need to get rid of the smell of curry. Cola on oven trays and roasting tins and soak overnight.

Knew there was a use for cola.

Going thru boot training at Lackland AFB we were instructed by the guys in the know that the only way to really get the soap scum off the shower walls was to heat up and shake up some cans of coke and spray the walls with it. Then rinse it off with some vinegar in the bucket and a few brushes then hose it down with clean buckets of hot water. The dang tiles would be squeaky clean.

Was that a little doll that you fill and put into the m'wave? I saw that, too.

Using a vinegar and water mixture to clean the microwave has been popping up as a suggestion for years. When I get so much crud built up on the inside of mine that I can't fit much food in there, I just get the hammer and chisel. Problem solved! : )

At a buck a can, that's probably the most expensive way to clean anything.

EDIT: I always thought "Lackland" would be a better name for the navy, rather than the air force.

We used the coke syrup from the mess hall to clean the metal decks in the missile house on the light cruiser. That was in '63 so now they probably have some contractor supplied item that the navy pays $500 a bottle for.......

I agree. Just take a microwavable bowl with water in it, put it in and turn on until it boils for a short time.. Works like a charm. No vinegar or fancy gadget needed.
