I love Topaz Studio and their products. Especially the AI Clear and Gigapixel. But find this product unnecessary since I shoot in RAW.

Just a question. not looking for a big debate. This looks to me as an increase in color correction, contrast and brightness. The images should have been put in the Download so that it was informative. Thanks for sharing.Don
My second post (Feb 21, 2019 13:25:30) does have a link to download. Please give it a try. For me, I've found that much, but not all, of the improvements can be done in Lightroom. With my tests, Topaz's AI (Artificial Intelligence) adds some detail that Lightroom doesn't. It's value may depend on how one publishes the final photo (e.g. size, medium, etc.).

Thanks. Your Photoshop version is on the left and Topaz's is on the right.

No interest in Topaz's new "jpeg to raw
converter" cuz you shoot raw in-camera ?

Well now, thaz a unique approach ....

........they like to treat all of Sony's in camera software the same way ! 8-(

Folks, computational imaging/AI is here to stay - embrace it and use it to your advantage !

Speed up your camera, and your computer and lower you memory bill - shoot JPEG ! WYSIWYG !

No need for workshops, seminars, books, magazines to "teach" you how to use raw.

The app is not intended to be a substitute for shooting in RAW. It's when you want to improve a photo when all you have is a jpeg.

EXACTLY!!! If everyone who immediately started bashing this product, because it offends their "professional" status, would merely read the fine print that Topaz has published they would understand this. I believe I read where Topaz has said that this product is not for everyone. Also, I don't see where Topaz has said that this product produces an actual "Raw" file.

Or, just another tool for shooting JPEG period.

I agree 100%. I run AI Clear on just about every high ISO image that I take and for $60, it's worth every penny. I am more concerned with the speed of this app and its final effects and not how it does it, and have no care whether or not I can do it with other software, or etc, etc. AI Clear works and for the $60 I am very happy. Money is of no concern when it comes to speeding up my processing workflow and allowing me to work on more images. I not have to prove my "intelligence" at figuring out other ways to do the noise reduction and sharpening. AI Clear solves two problems at once with the noise reduction and sharpening. I don't intend to buy the jpeg to raw software though because I don't shoot raw. However, for those that can use it or need it, I think it is a great invention. By the way, in the past I have spent $400 on a Singh-Ray 95mm LB Warming Circular Polarizer---why? because it saves me processing time so that I don't have to try to duplicate the same effects in LR. It's all about time for me these days, folks. So kudos to Topaz and keep those products rolling out, Topaz.....

How can an 8 bit image be transformed into a 16 bit image and called 'raw'????

A raw file is a sensor capture with minimal processing.

A JPG is a (camera) processed image WITH lossy compression.

Sorry but this is another marketing ploy to get your $$$

Ron, just because you don't know how it's done does not mean it can't be done. I didn't believe one could capture a perfectly good television image from a snowy picture either. But with DSP, it's possible.

There are very smart people who figure these things out - the WHOLE idea of digital imaging is interpolation/computational !

OK. We not it's not a real raw file in the
absolute arguable sense altho it seems
like maybe a useful tool. But since it's
not truly a raw sensor file, what KIND
of file is it ? Is it a tiff ? What extension ?
Gotta be one that most PP SW will open.
