UHH'rs, I Was lucky to get these shots of a fine Northern Cardinal here in Michigan. Now, I'd like to work on the pose that's the most popular. I'd like your vote on the pose. The colors on all of them could be better. But it's the pose that I would appreciate your opinion on. Thanks.

All are sweet but number 3

I like number 3. Like he's showing you his good side! I like all of them, though. Nice work.

I like but his pose in #1, but prefer #3 because he is looking into the picture.

Being a former exhibitor, #4 is the best selection with #3, a close 2nd.
If it wasn't for the peanut, it would have made the grade in Wildlife comp.

#3 for me. Shows crest well, mask and eye well exposed and more distinct than #1, bird showing interest in something off camera.
All are well exposed and well focused.

IMO, no comparison. By far #3. The bird is engaged, perhaps curious, about you, or something behind you............... But wait, I really like #5 as well. The open beak indicates communication, perhaps with his mate. Now, its a tough decision. In number three, with apparently the bird interacting with you (so it seems) the viewer is now aware of the photographers presence. Are photographers intended to be part of the birds environment. Also, with #3 the bird looks like he is about ready to split because of your presence. I like to think of wildlife photography as being able to capture some behavior that is natural and not influenced by the presence of people. Number 5 now to me looks like more of a natural, undisturbed setting that better demonstrate what is going on in the life of this bird. The photographer is not interfering in that behavior. I change my vote to #3.

Great post with great photos. The question you asked makes on think about what is good (or bad) in each of the photos and why one's preferences are what they are.

We all just had a photo lesson. Thank you.
