So a whole one is a lens, and one cut in half is a lense ?

A remarkably clean cut. If I tried sawing a lens in half, I'm sure the result would be nothing but a pile of glass shards and metal pieces!

I don't think the first one was cut in half. The markings on the body of the lens don't line up.

wow, good observation. the "made in china" at the bottom, china is missing, which should have been on the other side.

There's a guy in Japan who is dedicated to sawing thins in half. It started as a hobby, became an obsession, and now it's a business. Companies pay him to cut slices for promos as well as quality control. Want to know how the competition did that? How bad was the casting shift?

Very well could be the same lens cut in half...ya gotta allow some room for the saw kerf and the clean up of each side.

Lense is a small lens pronounced Lenz ee. I have a big lens and a wittle lense

Good point, but not in this case it seems. Look at the aperture ring. Quite a few f/stops missing.
