ICE on this amendment is nothing more than a red herring. The Democrats because of their hatred towards both ICE and their need to assert their power and control of the House over reason rejected an amendment that should have been supported. ICE was a minor part of the amendment and as you say, it was totally inconsequential because most illegals would never submit themselves to a background check.

Read the amendment that was rejected by the democrats. It requires notification to law enforcement of non eligible persons trying to acquire a gun, it would seem that in more rational moments this would be something that democrats would support.

Since the investigation by Congress started yesterday, there is plenty of grounds to continue to explore how much money they received ( not illegal) and how much of it went into political parties ( very illegal).
