I've used an earlier model of the HyperDrive Colorspace UDMA3 1TB Portable Storage and Backup Device with Wi-Fi with great success while traveling for over a decade now. Never found the need for anything else even over a month long trip. Also never found the need to bring a bunch of extra cards as you can simply download your images on a daily basis. The other thing I liked is that the screen allows you to see your images once they are transferred to the device thus avoiding the need for a laptop. If you feel the need for a redundant backup you can then copy them to an external HDDR.

Bill, the WD SSD actually comes in capacities from 250GB to the 2TB version - check the price on that monster!

There are two other devices on the market that don’t seem to have gotten a mention here:
Gnarbox 2.0. I have one on order but delivery will not be till March. This will do all you need. Plug in you SD card and it will save all files or you can connect with your tablet and edit the files. There are version 1.0 available now but I believe they have some issues (slow?).

LaCie has one also. Can’t remember the name right now (senior moment).

Hope that helps.

Yes, it does come in sizes!

What is interesting in every topic about backing up camera cards without a computer is the lack of overall good reviews.

Hmm. that might work a bit better for me. I will be traveling to Kenya in July. There is a weight limit, so I am not sure if I will bring my travel laptop. I was going to bring the my passport ssd drive, but that only give me one backup. I have 2 small hard drives, with the Ravpower, I could back up to my 2 hard drives. I have to think about this option.
Thanks so much.

Yes, the RavPower filehub is very versatile for under $50. Direct connect to any USB device via cable for download, connect to your phone wirelessly vis it's software, be a battery charger, a wired to wireless local router...
