I used Helicon Filter (free version) for a long time & really liked it. I do not do extensive post processing other than minor tweaks here & there. Unfortunately, when I purchased it, could not get it to install & had to cxl the purchase. If anyone else used it successfully, please tell me your secret.

I would have to agree with Linda response. I have Elements 13 and I use that plus Lightroom 6 to do all my photographs.

Elements is limited but good. E.I. It will not have brush so you can lighten a face, only lighten the photo overall. Thats just one example, but look at the overall cost comparison.

In PSE, you can make the face a selection and then just lighten the selection.

I have the Adobe package that I pay a monthly fee for. The only program I use is Photoshop. I am shooting RAW images and open them in Photoshop. I don't think I take enough pictures to justify paying the monthly fee for the Adobe package. Would I be better off to purchase the newest version of Photo Elements? Thank you. Earl
PSE is a quite capable program, it mostly depends on you, which way you feel you're better off. You loose ACR when switching to PSE though!

Not completely accurate. My 2018 Photoshop Elements has Adobe Camera Raw version 10.3.0.933 . copyright 2018,built in and which opens when I open a RAW image from my Elements Organizer. Wonder which version of ACR version Elements 2019 has, and which version ACR the $10 month version runs? Can anyone look and chime in? Granted, it might not have as many sliders, but still has a lot, and most adjustments missing sliders can be found in Elements Editor.

The list on the Adobe website does not (yet) list PSE2019.
PSE2018 ships with ACR 9.12 and lists ACR 10.0 for Compatible with Camera Raw
plug-in through version.
From a Google search, I found that PSE 2019 is compatible with latest ACR version.

From Adobe https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html PSE 2019 ships with ACR 10.4 Latest release for upper end software in Feb was 11.0

My Elements 2018 automatically updated to 10.3XXXXX
I would guess that would be the last update I get without buying a new version of Elements.

This page
https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/using/whats-new/2018.html
shows 2018 updates and thumbnail of what is in them

And this page
https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/using/whats-new.html

shows 2019 updates thru February and what is in them.

Maybe this will help others, and maybe not, but there is info for your decision making.

Maybe you won't get updates automatically after this, I don't know.
I never got an update automatically, but regularly check for updates by going to Help -> Updates, then click on the update version you want.

I have Elements set up to notify me of updates. I meant I doubt they provide updates to Raw beyond 10.3xxxx for 2018 since Elements 2019 is out with 10.4xxx. I would expect bug fixes would still be provided, but not upgrades. I fully expect to go a few years between updates, based on what they say new features were provided in the last two. BUT, if I buy a new camera that is not supported, then an update would be needed.

I updated 2018 after 2019 was released. This was so in the past as well, with different versions, as I only buy the new version every second or third year.
