Added some more exposure time, 94 lights of 300 seconds.
Fantastic. #2 must have been a longer exposure (?). Did you use any kind of filter? CD camera or DSLR ?
Thank you Ed, between these 2 images, the only difference was the software I processed the image. The first image was done in PixInsight and the second was stacked in PixInsight, then post processed in PhotoShop.
This is by no means a reflection on PixInsight, but my lack of knowledge in its use.
This is a stack of 94 images of 5 minutes each, for a total of ~8 hours shot over 5 nights. I am in a heavy light polluted area, Class 8 Bortle - SQM 18.5. I use a Lumicon 2" Deep Sky Filter for light pollution. Although it does help, it is not nearly as good as a higher end filter. I should have held off and purchased a better filter.
Thanks again.
Brian
Brian , great job on such a faint target . Awesome ! Letting those processing skills shine.
Brian, thank you for all that info. You are certainly dedicated! I have a C-14 in a dome that won't rotate without a struggle, and an Obsession-25 that I'm getting too old and weak to handle. When I can, and the weather and Moon are favorable I like to look, but do little photography (Moon, brighter planets). After many years of severe light pollution, I live in a very rural area---not much light, and at times really beautiful. Thanks again. Ed
