I live on Long Island. A friend and I went out to the Hamptons. It was so windy, difficult to hold the camera but I was able to get a few images of flying gulls, and one yawning one!
You did good!
The benefits of the wind blowing is that it slows down their flight and out of that come some fun poses. But it is hard to keep the camera still especially if you have a big hood attached.

Thanks so much. I did not find it slowed them down. They were flying quickly, it was hard to keep focus at times.

After I learned that birds take off in the wind and land in the wind I started to seek out those windy days because they just sort of hover for a second or two before they get their "wind wings". Maybe the wind has to be pretty strong for that to happen though. And maybe it doesn't affect them so much if they are already in flight like yours were.
Nice set Roni. I really like the pose in the second shot.
