Fuji is really a niche market. I had heard from a Sigma rep that they were considering a fuji line, but the Sony product line was going to take precedence.

If you are small quantity, you are in a niche - and nobody wants to play with you ....8-(

Same problem with Sony A-mount ! .....8-(

Imagine the cost of R&D to get one of your current products to work reliably with a different camera system. Then imagine how many Fuji owners would buy that lens. They put their R&D where the most potential sales are. How many auto parts stores carry brake pads for a 1970 Rolls Royce?

As someone at Fuji once said, "Ooh, I have an itch."

It takes time. Selling is projected on profits. No manufacturer wants a product that doesn't sell well. When Sigma noticed that Sony's mirrorless cameras were selling well, they decided to come up with a new line of E-mount lenses. Some very good ones I must say.

Another reason might be that Fuji glass is simply supreme...

Cheers!

Because Fuji lenses are bargain priced as it is and the quality is outstanding. Sigma and Tamron consider Fuji too small a market. Besides, at the prices Fuji is charging, it would be hard for either to compete. Thank goodness for that.

Well, the Fuji 100-400mm wasn't cheap when introduced ($1900). But it's on sale now I think for $1400. Still less than bargain basement. And it will be interesting to see what it goes back to after the sale.

Why would you want to put third party lenses on a Fuji camera? Do you really think they would be better than native Fuji lenses ... that are outstanding and price competitive?

I suppose with some lenses you could buy adapters to use on a Fuji camera, and manually focus.

This is the one I wish to believe. I further believe that many buy the Fujifilm brand, for its glass (I did), and may not be ready to try another (maybe "cheaper") brand of lenses.

I'm not too concerned about other third-party manufacturers jumping on the Fuji band wagon. Fuji line of lenses is superb for the most part. The 16 is the most exceptional lens I have ever used on any system. Not sure others will add any value to the brand by entering the market. I do have some Roki and Samyang lenses though which are manual and enjoy using them when the opportunity arises. Not sure I am "missing out" on anything with the way things are currently as far as lens options.

My experience with Fuji lenses are with view camera lenses and lenses for the xPan. All are superb.

When Fujifilm developed their EBC coating in the late 60's and 70's they literally walked away with top honors for lens sharpness and have only gotten better. When I switched to Fuji medium format, i literally got rid of all my lenses that weren't Fujifilm and weren't EBC coated.

The problem with third party for Fuji is that I suspect no one can compete with EBC. The market is filled with adaptors and legacy lenses that work with Fuji mount for XF and Xc. The best and sharpest lenses I have used on Fuji have been Konica Hexanon. Closest in sharpness to Fuji's EBC sharpness and cheap at under $100 (plentiful on eBay)

Don't need any other players in the market if you ask me... OK you didn't.
