Close 4x6, Slightly larger 4x6 or Panorama? Would love to hear your thoughts.

I like it quite well as-is because the foreground rocks are so interesting and it makes the location feel more expansive - hiking to get there, rather than just jumping out of a car

A little tighter 4x6 + I rotated 2 degrees so the viewing platform's posts are vertical.

What's the subject? For me I would crop everything out except the man & dog. What are they looking at? Makes an interesting story.

Whoops! I should have checked the rotation. Thanks for the comment.

I was waiting for my wife to wander into the picture on the platform and this man and dog wandered in. When I saw the pose I had to grab it. Afraid to use any time recomposing for fear the pose might go away. I like your crop and Linda's as well.

I really like all those boulders, so I'd hate to lose them. Not too fond of the posts and grilll of the patio/deck, as it brings the man and dog back into close contact with civilization. I prefer him being out away. But, if you crop out all that post and grill, you're left without much of an expanse in the picture.

I agree with steve and Neil...let the man and dog gaze into the image, rather than out of it.

I would crop out some of the foreground and go panoramic (or someway towards it). If your programme has a free crop profile on it try that and move it around to get the effect you want.
I would be looking to gain some distance for man and his best friend to look into.

I understand what you mean. By cropping out most of the right side of the picture they would be at the edge facing into the picture. But I'm wondering what that would do the emotional impact. I'll have to try it and see. The thing that draws people to this point is the view of the Arkansas River and fertile fields some 800-900 feet below. You wouldn't expect a dog to show that interest. That's what grabbed my attention.

Thanks, AzPicLady. I am enjoying reading everyone's comments and I will try all the different crops. Perhaps I'll keep the same ratio and crop out most of the deck. That should keep some of the rocks in the picture. Thanks for commenting.

Keep two, Linda's nice crop and the closer one.

I took it even farther and cropped the man out.

...try a 16x9...or even a 20x10 and see what happens. I think there's way too much foreground, but with a faux pano approach you keep alot of left/right.
