Great story and shots, Brent. Any idea what the movie would be? Definitely odd. Our daughter has used German au pairs for more than six years and they all have to visit LA, SF and LV.

My mentality on photography is to always be Looking for the bizzare.....odd, and different. Today while riding my bike on the boardwalk at the beach I spotted a film crew filming a German TV program. I was all over it! For a couple of these photos I cloned out the guy lines. Keep your eyes forever peeled for opportunities that randomly happen my fellow UHH friends!

I like your photo series. This is one of the reasons Surf City is so unique. In the space of a week you can find much to photograph by the city beach and nearby wetlands. Even in the winter.
Your photos do a great job of telling me the story of a film production. It makes me wonder about overkill and how they probably could have produced similar results with a green screen and a bit of video editing.

Yes pmorin, I agree with you regarding the green screen etc. I also agree with you about always finding something to photograph, even in the Winter.
Thanks pmorin for your kind comments.

love what you did with #1, great series...I too love bizarre but I think you may have topped me! Enjoyed the share.

Well EyeShootWideOpen, fortunately we are not in a competition about who tops who! I'm happy that you love bizarre too and I'm not alone.

Green screens are not as effective as many think. However, photographic adjustment will certainly be applied in this production. It does diminish the time for the processing and there are details that could not be duplicated in green screen. The result of whatever process is used will determine the success of the chosen method.

Even in the movies that are doing a tremendous amount of CGI they find limitations in story telling.

Bottom line, it depends on the purpose for the processing as to which will give the best result in the story telling.

The series above tells a story without the benefit of green screen. Would it have more impact if it was green screened?
Green screens are not as effective as many think. ... (show quote)

Good thought provoking ideas Stephan. One thing I always think about when trying to figure out the best way to photograph something is to think about the "lighting". In this case, renting a crane, a scissors lift and a full crew on location would be more costly than green screen but the lighting would be perfect. I noticed the film crew wanted the ocean in the background but by doing that, the sun was also behind the model on the bike. The crew knew this and had extra lighting to keep the model lit up despite the sun being behind her. You could tell the film crew had put a lot of time and effort into doing this particular shoot.

Great photo opportunities !👍👍👍😄😄😄

Yes Susan, but often times we find ourselves not recognizing great photo opportunities. Yesterday as I crossed over a bridge of the Santa Ana River I noticed the snow on our local mountains. Normally these mountains are not nearly this full of snow. I parked my car and walked back to the bridge to get the river in the foreground. It took some effort but I like the photo and it was worth it to me.
I'm attaching the photo to this series for you to see.

Very good series Brent, I would have fainted up there.

Hahahahahahaa Ohhhhh EB, you would have done fine! Under the skirt of the model is a full harness and caribiners clipping her into the cables. It would have been fun, especially knowing it was safe.

Well, for you and me, fun is really what it's about. I'm not sure how much responsibility I would want to be the director of this photo shoot..........a lot of stress! Thanks Katydid for your comments.

Interesting find Brent, and your words ring so true. There are opportunities for photographs all around us.

I think all of us have accidently passed up opportunities to photograph something because mentally we were not on top of it or not ready. I'm so glad Bmac you have the right mindset to capture the photos that are around you.

You certainly have found "Bizarre" Brent. Did you manage to find out the name of the show? Maybe they are trying to recreate the Steven Spielberg image of the boy riding his bicycle over the Moon. Whatever, the images certainly do tell an interesting story. Click Click.

Jan, I did not ask what the show name was. I would think it should be somewhat easy to figure it out with the best library in the world (internet). I did overhear someone saying it had something to do with a modeling show or competition. It was done for a German TV show. That's all the clues I have for you. As I was making my 360 turn around the crane and all the action, one of the crew members kindly asked me to leave. I was done shooting so I allowed him to have his power trip and got back on my bike and left. Click, Click!

Brent, you certainly live in the right place for capturing the Bizarre! Good job of cloning out the guy wires.

Yeah FL Streetrodder, I am very fortunate to live where I do. Lots going on all the time, and it's extra special when I get to photograph something cool like this thread and didn't expect to see anything like that! Got lucky! Thanks for your nice compliment of taking out the guy wires. I'm sure the film crew will have some graphic designers doing the same thing to their photos.
