Extremely unhappy with FedEX and B&H

Survival; I lost track of how many websites were devoted to FedEx rants/complaints; a lot. When people don't have problems with F/E, it's good to hear. We never ship via USPS and fired both F/Ex divisions after three shipments went badly. Two cartons were run through by fork lifts and the last never arrived. Since you mentioned stealing..when out F/E green delivery didn't show by 3PM, we called them. They checked the driver who said he'd left the delivery on the front porch. Fish story; we didn't have a front porch and no one had driven down our one-way drive that day. We called the authorities and luckily, the police weren't busy and they went to visit the driver. A plain-clothes officer spoke with the driver (with our stuff visible through the door) while a uniformed officer slipped around the back, then returned carrying our shipping carton with the shipping label intact. Busted:) The shipper didn't insure the item as requested, so they had to replace it at their cost.

DHL was always incredibly reliable; would give them all of our shipping business if they were still around. Always try to know your vendor or salesperson and read all of their policies; request written confirmation of your invoice and shipment details. Paying $5 for adult signature delivery beats not receiving your gear. Adorama always provided us with signature delivery unless we waived it for hub pickup. Track your shipment manually as often as possible and and request automatic updates, but not through third party companies. Even so, sometimes even the good guys goof. A year ago our regional UPS hub had a system meltdown in the middle of the night. For a full day nothing moved and people panicked. UPS made it worse when they sent generic email replies to customers which read, "due to an extreme weather event/natural disaster, delivery times may be affected." The weather at the hub was 75F, with no rain/snow/earthquakes, no black holes or no traffic accidents. Almost everyone has dealt with a computer failure, so if UPS had been honest it wouldn't have been what it became. Happy shooting and shipping. sv

B&H is great but what B&H do about Fed-Ex? I believe in this case B&H lost a camera am I right?
Apparently B&H handed a camera over to FedEx but no one seems to know what FedEx did with it.

Why blame B&H? Sounds like they did what they’re supposed to do.

CMC, what a shame, sad to hear. Even though they're busy folks, incompetence should never be acceptable.(note, I didn't say -they- (whoever they are) were incompetent! We used to use B&H and usually the service was fine. We always pay extra if necessary to be sure we get UPS shipping (they tried to advise us FedEx was better; ha-ha-ho-ho, after decades in business, we've always received far better shipping service with UPS. After a couple of incidents, we switched to Adorama bit still insisted on UPS shipping. No one should ever put up with such screw-ups as you experienced. To be fair, in certain urban areas, it's possible that FedEx may give some customers better/faster delivery times, but they always practice 'driver discretion' which means they might just leave your expensive camera at the wrong address, instead of placing it in your hands, especially since you're supposed to sign for it.

It's a bit more difficult to do these days but it's still possible to reach B&H's executive level to place a formal (respecful/non-rant) complaint. In your case, you're fully justified to place a hold on your credit card for this B&H order, or for any vendor who can't get their stuff straight, or as we used to say, (that's a ton-o-my-money, sonny). As Billy Joel always says at the end of his concerts, (or used to), "don't take any $xxx from anyone." We've never had any issues with Adorama, coupled with UPS signature-mandatory shipping. FedEx left a next day iPad shipment sitting at the end of the drive, next to the street last year. Enough said. sv

rehess; If B&H shipped the camera yet the buyer didn't receive the camera for whatever reason, and F/Ex claims they don't know what transpired, B&H should feel obligated to resolve the first instance with F/Ex. If the camera never made it to the customer, B&H should've immediately replaced the customer's order. In the past, at various times, B&H claimed they switched to F/Ex due to the volume of complaints concerning UPS. (there was mention of a customer's $20K camera which hadn't been delivered). Thankfully (hopefully) this case is resolved but no vendor should keep a customer's order in limbo, while waiting for the shipping company to locate or return a lost/missing or mis-delivered shipment. As long as the actual customer didn't take delivery, they're in the clear, but woe to the folks who now have it. Something likes this always generates strong feelings:) sv

Bullfrog, you call whatever you like BS, BP Big money or CC, anything's easy for a Bullfrog. We have plenty of them in our pond. Baiting and/or trolling aren't something we deal in. Glad you're not coming over for Sunday coffee.

"The order has been reconstituted and the camera should be on the way soon."

I wonder how many shipments leave B&H each day. I wonder how many work perfectly.

I wonder how many purchasers complain here before they contact the merchant

The # to call at fedex is 1-800-gofedex. Tell them what you told us. They will issue you a claim #. Then they have a few days to figure it out. In the meantime contact b@h and give them the claim #. They should be able to replace your items and fedex can either find and return the original order to B&H or reimburse B&H.

You say you're not a Pittsburgh address
but don't say what degree not Pittsburgh.

Mt Lebanon ? Detroit ? LA ? Point is, if BH
shipped to someplace not at all related to
you, as spec'd in your order, then they've
never shipped your order TO YOU ... and
they will acknowledge that, and make it
right without needing to deal with FedEx
at all.

If they addressed both your packages to
Ivan Ivanovich in Irkutzk, thaz no longer
your goods. Your goods are waiting to be
shipped to You at Your Place. So get them
shipped out. And it's not FedEx's mistake
if they dutifully attempt deliver in Irkutzk.
They are not YOUR problem.

But you hafta get thru to the right party
at BH. And you hafta be very clear about
details. Some of their customer service
people seem to have worked harder at
eliminating their non-USA accent but not
very hard at actually UNDERSTANDING
everyday US english.

Typical example is when they classify my
return as "Reason: Misc" ... which means
I'll pay return shipping. Then I hafta call
them and point out that the thing doesn't
work and so it's "Reason:Defective" which
means THEY pay return shipping. At that
point they then send me a new shipping
label of the PREPAID variety.

You are dealing with a large organization.
Keep that always in mind. Get names and
job titles of everyone who "helps" you.

Finally decided to buy a new D750 from B&H, ordered on Thursday evening, was shipped in two packages was supposed to be delivered Monday, it wasn't . Tracking says one package containing the spare battery was delivered, it WASN'T. (at least not to me) Tracking also says the other package was refused. It wasn't by me. Furthermore, tracking says it was refused in Pittsburgh, my address is NOT Pittsburgh
I called B&H and they say they can do nothing until it gets back to them, IF it gets back to them. I cannot find a number for FedEx
B&H also says they will refund my card when the camera gets back to them, but what about the package they say is delivered, I know of no way I can prove I did not receive it.
I also reviewed my order on B&H,s web site and the address IS correct

Just happened to me in January. The package delivery info. said it was refused and then it showed up 5 days later. BTW maybe coincidence, but I live near Pittsburgh.
