Enhance Details Of Your Raw Images Powered by Adobe Sensei

This morning I got a Lightroom Classic update notice. It goes from 8.1 to 8.2 Other than the usual new cameras and fixes it has a new menu choice in the Photo menu. It is "Enhance Details".

It won't work on my machine because mine is still running Windows 1803. Adobe says I need 1809 "Fall Update".

Adobe describes this as, "Achieve crisp detail and improved color rendering in raw images that is powered by Adobe Sensei. Introduced in the February 2019 release of Lightroom Classic (version 8.2) and powered by Adobe Sensei, Enhance Details produces crisp detail, improved color rendering, more accurate renditions of edges, and fewer artifacts. Enhance Details is especially useful for making large prints, where fine details are more visible. This feature applies to raw mosaic files from cameras with Bayer sensors (Canon, Nikon, Sony, and others) and Fujifilm X-Trans sensors."

Anybody got the Windows Fall Update that can try this? Does it work?

Amazing. I just did an update on LR and PS yesterday, and since reading your post I checked to see what version I have of LR. I have 8.1. So I checked for updates and sure as heck there was another one today. I'm updating now. Will let you know what I think when this finishes and I get a chance to try it. Since it's so new, I wouldn't expect an answer from too many people right away.

I just finished the update and tried it but like you, I need a Windows update. I will update Windows now.

I believe it is the correct version. The link you posted was a few days old.

I have the latest Windows 10 version and just downloaded the LR & PS updates. In LR, you go to the Photo menu and select Enhance Details. A window will open that allows you to compare what the Enhanced version will look like vs. the original. If you choose to Enhance, LR creates a dng file with "enhanced" tagged onto the file name next to the original file. Using the Compare View, I see a slight improvement in details and very slight enrichment in color reproduction.

Thank you for posting this! I tried to check it out and discovered that updates weren't happening, after that was worked out my system still didn't down load the Oct update! IN the future I'll have to periodically check updates out.

After everything was updated (lightroom is ver 8.2 btw Gene) I was able to look at this new feature. It took a lot of time and truthfully I didn't see much to write home about. Of course with weak eyes I might have missed something. I look forward to see what others think

I just checked and found three Adobe updates that I downloaded and installed (they weren't there yesterday when I opened CC.
Camera RAW to 11.2
LR Classic CC to 8.2
Photoshop CC to 20.0.3

I went over and checked and Windows and Microsoft had about 10 updates, including something added to Windows 1809 which I already had.

To prevent server overloads, Adobe does roll out the updates over about a week. If you want to rush it a little, open the CC app that lists your apps. In the upper right are three vertical dots that lead to a menu. One of the choices is to check for updates. That may put you further to the front of the line.

When I started this this morning I thought my Windows was up to date. It was not! I was on the Spring 2018, not Fall 2018. About two plus hours of computer time, I now have the newest Windows. Can't see that much changed, but the new Lightroom Enhance details is not blocked out.

Unfortunately it doesn't do anything. I get solid black. Guesses might be my GPU or my RAW files are the wrong type. Oh well, it was fun!

Gene,

A couple days ago I got a popup saying I had four Adobe updates. I ignored it because I was busy. A couple hours later they weren't there. This morning people like Bamton and Shoe sent out news letters saying today is the day!

I got the same results, I checked specs, it is my video card (8 years old and 2 GB - recommended is 4 GB and latest driver versions)

My video card is about 5 years old. I updated the driver and it has the 4GB. Still doesn't work.

MMatt Kloskowski did a YouTube demonstration. Even if it worked well, I don't think I would ever use it!

Kloskowski needs to learn to make and use an organized lesson plan. He rambles and uses 4 times as many words and way more time than needed. I couldn't watch it all, I bailed.

I am still using Windows 7, so I won't be able to use it anyway.
