I really like this image Mark. The stark white against the muted background stands out, and what a great pose.

[quote=fergmark]I first worked on this in b/w. Thought I would try in color and less closely cropped.[/quote

Beautifully accomplished fergmark! I have learned to value opportunities to photograph Egrets in this kind of light, especially with a dark background, so much greater possibility of controlling the exposure of the whites. You caught a wonderful dynamic pose and made a very successful photo. Thanks for sharing
Phil

Glad you like it Jan, and thank you. It is an unusual pose. I watched while he or she went through some activities with feathers fluffing and spewing all over. Even the feathers along the neck.

Thanks Phil. This was the first time I looked and found one inland. He hopped down below a small waterfall below a pond and seemed to take a little while to decide where he wanted to perform. Quite dark in a small gorge. It worked out well for both of us.

Floyd, Thank you for looking. It really was a private time. When he was finished I was really surprised when he flew off through a pretty dense woods over the little waterway. I had only ever seen them in the wide open.
