I have one photo that I never tire of looking at. It was taken in 1964 on Sentinel Dome in Yosemite N.P. I did spend a few minutes looking for the best framing but it was still a snapshot. I was using an Alpa 6b slr at the time. The original 35mm Kodachrome slide was desaturated in post processing it hangs as a 16x10. Of the thousands of photos I have taken this is THE ONE. How about letting us see your #1

Very nice capture. I wish I had a number one that I could show off. Happily, I am working towards such a work of art

Nice shot, Streets, I can see why you like it so much.
I have one that I took last spring of a Magnolia flower. I was at the activities center where I go for exercise. Someone just brought it in from their garden and put it on display on the counter. I grabbed my camera and took a couple shots and was very pleased with the outcome.

This shot is almost 13 years old; took it with my first Nikon DSLR, a D70s with kit lens. The D70s is long gone; I still shoot that kit lens on occasion. I had no idea what I was doing; simply took the shot. Red roses for me are some of THE most difficult flowers to photograph to get excellent definition and more. I lucked out on this shot.

A fond memory for me. Sentinel was one of my first big wall climbs.

Streets, this is a GREAT topic - responses will probably set a UHH record. I tend to have a "#1 for the month" - a shot that ends up staying on my desktops for literally weeks at a time. This is my current one, due to be replaced with a new #1, assuming I get a good idea.
Thanks
I forgot to add that yours is a wonderful shot - who cares that it's a snapshot. Glad you still have the slide.

Fortunately, I don't have to make such a choice. I had a photo exhibit last August-September of my best shots, and now they all hang on the walls in my house!

Thanks for sharing. It is an amazing capture. Ansel Adams would be proud of this B&W image.

Ansel Adams photographed the tree 24 years before I did, but from a different angle that did not have Half Dome in the background. I have another shot that is a fairly close match to the one he took. At the time of these shots I was unaware of Ansel's work.

Great capture of the Jeffrey Pine, Streets. I've hiked the rough trail up Sentinel Dome 3 times to capture this tree after it was dead. Even in death it was beautiful. Did you know it finally succumbed to the elements several years ago and now is only a memory. The tree was one of Ansel Adams famous works. I might take pictures of a few of my pictures and if they are good, will send them.

I do the same, put shots my desk top or on my fb page but it seems the longer I look at them the less I like them. I used to keep a large percentage of my pics but any more I probably keep less than one percent. Even shots that I have kept for awhile I get into the mood to delete some and end up deleting the complete folders. If I look a picture too long it seems to say to me you can get a better one. Unless it is an event or family function I tend not keep them over a few months. I have deleted some that I wish I had back but that is it seems to be what keeps me clicking, looking for that one in life time shot, which I will probably never get. If I get one technical correct, it seems I do not capture what I remember seeing at the time. As artist say, the next one will be the perfect one.

If you can get rid of the white 'thing' in back of the beautiful magnolia, it would be a perfect capture. Still, it's very pleasing and worth

Nice photo, Streets! And knowing that old tree isn't there anymore, makes your photo even more special.
I love to see other people's great photos. Thanks for starting this thread. Very impressive shots from people here on UHH!

This picture of my grandmother may not be the most technically correct or best processed, but it's one I get the most comments on. This was taken when she was 102 and she passed away about 6 months later. (download is better, as usual).
