I always buy at local store when I can but I do realize that many people don't have a local store that they can buy from.

Then maybe look for a club and examine some cameras. A big expense and the future of the success of his bobby is at stake. Find a place to try the camera out. I don't buy my cars own line.

So where do you stand exactly right now? Is it possibly with the post office?

USPS is nothing to brag about either. We have rural delivery. The mailman delivered a box that did not fit in the mailbox. He made it fit. I had to open the crushed box from the end and remove a very expensive lens befor I could get the box out of the mail box.

Not happy with USPS. Have ordered items to delivered on Saturday. USPS does not deliver on Saturday. And if Monday is a holiday you will not get your “Saturday delivery” until Tuesday.

I agree with cmc4214. I have spoken to people at B&H about the deterioration in their delivery service and they tell me that a couple of years ago at Christmas, UPS, their previous shipper, was unable to deliver everything on time. My memory is that all the delivery services were having the same trouble because online shopping had ramped up suddenly enough to catch them unprepared. B&H switched to FedEx as a result.

I used to be able to place an order by lunch time and have it in my driveway the next day with regular shipping. That rarely happens anymore and 2-3 days is now the norm. If I order less than $50, they hand it off to my local post office and that adds 1-3 additional days. B&H does not apologize for this. As a side note, FedEx doesn't place packages at my door where they would be out of the weather but leaves them randomly about the place. Last week my neighbor two doors down had the camera battery I ordered that blown down to his house.

I told B&H that I use Hunt's Photo and Video out of New England, smaller than B&H but a family-owned chain with real customer service, or very occasionally Unique Photo in north Jersey. B&H isn't the only supplier and as their service slips people will go elsewhere.

Just my two bits from lots of frustration.

[I have purchased tons of STUFF from B&H and never had a problem that wasn’t dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner...That is until B&H decided to use FED-EX as a delivery system. I have had expensive packages just dumped on my doorstep or tossed in my open garage door. And too often got emails stating that My package was signed for and accepted by me....NOT!!! And so far,I’m personally NOT a fan Of FED-EX. I’m supposed to be getting a lens delivered today (by FED-EX) and I shiver to think HOW that might go, not a cheap lens. Many here seem pleased with FED-EX, and it just might be a regional quirk, but I’m slowing way down on my purchases by mail. But .., I must add that the reason for that is “DWS”. “Disgruntled WIFE syndrome”. It’s an old term, I just made up. With GAS comes DWS”. And you can quote me on that. RJM

Your driveway smokes? Or the driver? If the driver where is his mount located? I will agree that FedEx has horrible delivery service and their policy of leaving it outside in the weather is just wrong.

Finally decided to buy a new D750 from B&H, ordered on Thursday evening, was shipped in two packages was supposed to be delivered Monday, it wasn't . Tracking says one package containing the spare battery was delivered, it WASN'T. (at least not to me) Tracking also says the other package was refused. It wasn't by me. Furthermore, tracking says it was refused in Pittsburgh, my address is NOT Pittsburgh
I called B&H and they say they can do nothing until it gets back to them, IF it gets back to them. I cannot find a number for FedEx
B&H also says they will refund my card when the camera gets back to them, but what about the package they say is delivered, I know of no way I can prove I did not receive it.
I also reviewed my order on B&H,s web site and the address IS correct

Sorry to hear about your delivery problem! I've only had problems a couple of times when ordering from B&H, and it was the delivery service's fault.

One suggestion made that I do NOT agree with - don't sit on the situation and wait to see how it turns out. The delivery system is so large and complex, that if something is not proceeding as it should, it may not be discovered right away. So stirring things up, while frustrating, is important. Just don't start berating the people you speak with because they are subject to rules set up by the company. By being firm but nice, it will be more likely that you will get some help [eventually!].

Once a UPS package [not from B&H] ended up in the post office, and did not get delivered until someone mentioned it to my local UPS driver. He brought it to me. In the meantime I had called the seller, and they sent me a replacement right away! I sent the original package back to the seller.

Another time it was FedEx's fault. Apparently they had trouble with the weather and not enough drivers. But instead of telling me they knew where the package was and why delivery was not on time, they used the weather as an excuse [when it had been sunny and roads clear!]. Their customer service people apparently could only tell me what it said on their computers, which I already had seen on the website. Finally one of them gave me the phone number of the local depot where the package was last seen, and I called them myself. Giving out the number is apparently frowned on by management! Speaking with the person who answered the phone was finally a positive experience - she told me the truth about the situation [shortage of drivers and high volume of packages to deliver], told me the package had been there all along and they did know where it was. Talking with her also worked to expedite delivery because I got it soon after. It took over a week to get delivery that usually takes 2 days of a lens worth over $1000. Talk about frustrating!

The private contractors system of FedEx is not as efficient as having drivers working for UPS. Those FedEx drivers also have to have their own vehicle - either they own it or rent it. I had one come up here in a U-Haul rental truck! And, as others have mentioned, the driver was not going to ask for a signature when it was clearly stated one would be required...

Don't let a day go by without trying to get this situation resolved!

USPS delivers on Saturday here in Florida, and I've seen the mail trucks running on Sunday, perhaps for "overnight or special $$ Delivery". I've not ordered anything that would need Sunday delivery, but I do remember reading about them doing this to compete. Here, in rural Fl. they do a real good job, I prefer them, then next is UPS, followed by FEDEX.

I have an advantage maybe, I'm retired, I often meet them at the gate, I talk to every one of them (Hey, hello how are ya, stayin warm in this cold, or out of the heat, etc.). I tell them where to hide the package if no one is home. Problems are actually a rarity (especially with USPS, as I see them 6 days a week), but stuff happens once in a while with any "service".

Recently, UPS driver delivered 4 (boxed) large wicker chairs and a larger glass top table (Iron frames) on a day I was visiting someone, He let himself in the gate, brought each large box 200 feet up the drive (by handcart) and stacked it all in an open area in my barn, left a note with just a smiley face on it, and latched the gate behind him. I thanked him next time I saw him, he said he was just glad they weren't "Monster Truck" tires, like the guy who lives a little further out buys, he said those are a challenge. I think their service is excellent.

B&H = no issue and numerous purchases.

My most frustrating issue with both FedEx and UPS is the "ring and run" conduct of their driver/delivery people!

Drivers rush up, park (usually middle of the street or wherever they damn well please!), then come to the door, ring the bell, wait 2 - 3 seconds, then rush off, sometimes leaving "signature required" deliveries (I am a VA patient and my medications are delivered by mail) on the porch, sometimes not.

I'm old. I am "infirm" (always thought that had sexual connotation). I am an oxygen patient. My nesting place is a bit further from the door than the coat rack! I need 30 - 45 seconds to get to the door and by the time I do, all I see or hear and smell is diesel fuel and a cloud of vapor....that truck is long gone and my package sent to the post office (and need I address that concern in a separate rant?)

Interesting. Good info, but the FEDEX drivers here are in FEDEX trucks, same driver all the time, young fella who said he likes to work and make good pay (he's no rocket scientist, but seems like a fine young fella) saving up to buy a house.

Why are you upset with B&H?

Why would B&H be responsible for shipping anomalies?
Is it because they would not credit your account until they received the returned merchandise?
(I don't know of any store that would.)

I remember something from a business law course I took many years ago that may be helpful (I am not a lawyer). I have never seen anything on the B&H website that states if sales are FOB (Free On Board) or on delivery. As I understand it, that is an important distinction. If the sale is FOB it means that the product belongs to you when B&H gives the shipment to the shipping agency (UPS, FedEx, etc.) and any loss is your problem and you are responsible to negotiate with the carrier. I do not know if the fact that B&H chose the carrier may or may not have a bearing on the issue; e.g., if B&H chose the carrier rather than you, that possibly could establish that the sale was on delivery in the absence of any other evidence. If the sale is on delivery, the property does not become yours until you receive it and the loss is legally in the lap of B&H and FedEx. The first thing you must do is find out who is legally responsible for the loss.

Thank you for your order and this feedback. We regret your dissatisfaction. I've received your email and replied to it. When I have additional information I'll add to that email.

I guess as long as someone is not happy and feels the need to tell everyone on the internet about it their is not much we can do.
What happened to folks who TOOK CARE OF THEIR OWN PROBLEMS without the need to tell everyone their troubles.
It's a shame administration does not stop these incessant complainers from reaching out to everyone.

Actually, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with FedEx problems, and I would LOVE it if a bunch of people like us could start a movement to make them come around or go away! Anybody know of a FedEx exec they can share this thread with?
