On Sunday afternoon, I drove to Hancock, ME to photograph The Carrying Place where the Mt. Desert Narrows salt water connects to itself across Hancock. It was beautifully sunny with a temperature of 24° but a 15 mph breezing blowing that made the air feel much colder. In the two photos, the first faces south toward Lamoine while the second faces north toward Franklin. I hope you enjoy looking at them. -Paul

I tried looking on Google maps, but had no success in finding the location.
I'd like to visit it the next time I'm up on MDI.

easy to find with Google maps; go to satellite view, ~800 ft. south of where US 1 bridge crosses.

Thanks, I did find it then. (I posted a link above to the map.)
And there seems to be a little parking right there!
I passed it one year going to Lubec. Must have been high tide...

Very nice. Have driven that stretch of Rt 1 thousands of times heading downeast! For those who like to see the real downeast Maine, when you are in the Acadia area plan a day trip down Rt 1 to Jonesport and Beals Island, or go "all the way" to Lubec and Campobello Island (New Brunswick - you now need your passport).

Looks like a beautiful place. You had the light just right on that water.
