Actually NY receives less in federal spending than it contributes to the federal treasury, but there are a couple of reasons for that, one is Wall Street and the tons of unseemly monies that are made there in the casino that bears the same name, all those hedge fund billionaires and such. Secondly all the people that flee the state once they retire taking their social security and Medicare payments with them. Frank's stinky little secret is that the way the so called givers and takers are calculated is all federal spending within the state which includes not only Medicaid, but Social Security, Medicare, Military, infrastructure, federal policing efforts, and the list goes on....

And Frank, if you are truly fed up with your tax dollars going to Mississippi and Alabama, I will gladly step in and refund the $1.50 that represents your share of what NY contributed to the red states last year.

Yours is such a stupid question, when was the last time you saw an administration review the government for efficiencies and waste and design a plan for maximizing the return on federal dollars spent. The only worker who has stronger protections than a tenured university professor is the federal employee, almost impossible to fire.

Don't pretend that the federal government is a good steward of our federal tax dollars.
