Not A Murky Day

Today's dog walk was so much different to the one posted yesterday. This evening was very cold and clear. The skyline is the same quarry, just a little left of yesterdays post. Is it all too dark? As regulars know, I quite like dark. Your views appreciated.

It's too dark for me. I can only see a wide band of black with various tree branches coming out of it and nothing recognizable in the distance.

So, there's no sense of mystery hidden in the shadows, or a well defined silhouette that provides an interesting foreground for a beautiful sunset.

I too, like dark, moody pictures. In this case, however, I agree with Linda. This is just an underexposed picture --but--there is a lot of detail contained in those shadows. I would open it in PS use the Camera Raw filter, click the "auto button" and go from there.

Thought you might think that. It’s the problem of knowing what I’m looking at -
I know what’s there so it it makes more sense to me. Never mind, at least it was a good walk, even if not a photographic success! Thanks for your guidance (back to reality!).

Lightroom would do it for me Curmudgeon, but see my response to Linda. Thanks for your comments, they are appreciated.

It looks just right to me, but everybody from the Missus to Linda complain mine are too dark. Here's to beautiful sunrises/sunsets and silhouettes.

Ah, a compatriot at last! Glad it suits you Neil. Thanks for commenting.

You were after something that celebrates the dark, so I disagree myth those who want to adjust the "underexposure." It intrigues me to see it cropped severely at the top ("sunset fatigue" on my part?) until the dark meets the edge on the left. Then, perhaps a slight lightening. Either way, the dark then wonderfully brings out the lovely but subtle pond colors.

A very enjoyable shot!

Glad you like it Bob. Your crop does sound a bit tight for me - not enough contrast for the silhouette to sit in? Of course, the pond is an important element with lots of hidden interest, but that seems to be the problem for most - too hidden. Many thanks for your considered critique.
