Hi, going to the Grand Canyon in July and looking to capture some great memories. I have a Canon 760D with the following lens. Canon EFS 18-85 mm 3.5 IS, Canon EF 70-200 4, and a Canon EF 50 mm 1.8. Do you think I need a Prime wide angle lens, or any other lens that may work better than my current outfit.

I personally would not bother with any other lens(es).
(If I was going, I'd just take my 18-200 and my 50. But you have that covered in the two lenses.)

One thing to keep in mind is to take other than WIDE ANGLE shots. I've started doing a lot of landscape panoramas at 120 mm with a 70-200 lens. Look for interesting details and compose on that.

Photos at the Grand Canyon are primarily landscape, so the 18-85 would be my first choice, and the 50mm would be my second choice. The 70-200 would probably be too much.

You will probably use your entire range. But practice with stitching together panoramas - that can be the best way to capture great panoramas.

Most of your photos will probably be taken with your 18-85. I just went back and checked my last western landscape trip, and that was the range for most. However, when you want to zoom in on a particular feature, the longer reach will be required, so bring the bigger lens as well.

I say "ditto" from experience.

Consider a helicopter tour for fantastic views that are unavailable from the rims. Your two lenses cover all needs.

18-200 has you covered. The last time I was at GC I had my film camera and a 20 mm. Never regretted having a longer lens with me. Got some memorable shots with the 20.

You enough equipment. What lens you use on a given shot will depend on what you want to capture and how much post processing you want to do. The 18-85 will work for almost all your shots. If you want higher quality and are willing to stitch you may want to use the 70-200 more or even the 50. Are you taking a tripod?

Yep!

I agree with Cat...

I shot there years ago with film. I became so awestruck - that at first, I did not know just what to shoot. The G.C. is so damn large that you want to try to get the Whole Thing in One Frame.

I fell into just shooting what I thought was "framed sections" of parts of the G.C. However, knowing what I have learned over the years, now, I should return for better shots.

Good Luck in your endeavor and trip to the "Big Ditch". :-)

We were there this past July. Remember the early morning and evening's golden hour. Ask where to go without the large crowds. And stitching vertical panoramas in postprocessing I believe turns out better.
