I shoot with Canon 6d and 7D Mark II. Birds and wildlife are my usual subjects, but I now need a good lens for landscape in the Canadian Rockies. Already have a 24-105, 15-55(kit) and 50mm. What else would you suggest either instead of, or in addition to? Budget is modest, less than $500.

Your 24-105 on the 6D is a fine choice for landscape work, both wide and using the zoom to better frame distant vistas.

Perhaps the 10-18mm to use on the 6D?
The 7Dii, being a crop sensor camera, might not be ideal for landscape.

Thanks. BTW, enjoy your zoo photos including the animal info.

I'll try both. 7D will come along for wildlife.

Typo? The EF-S 10-18 will only mount to the OP's 7DII.

I would stick with the 24-105. It is very versatile in landscape shots, especially on your full frame 6d. I have shot some really nice landscapes with my 7DII using that lens although the photos I have taken with my 5d4 look sharper with the higher resolution.
Do not discount the wider lenses either, you will find yourself using them too. I never travel without a 16-35 in the pack. Never know when you will want that one shot.
But if that 500 is just burning a hole in your pocket, this lens, the 70-300mm II nano, is very good for your purposes also. This is the manufacturer price and web site. I’m sure you can get better prices somewhere.

You've got it covered for landscape. Spend your money learning how to compose, expose, and post-process.

I have a NIKKOR 10-20 on crop body and I find it used more than I ever thought I would.

If a 10-18 won’t fit, something like a TOKINA 12-24 might be a good match.

Depends on how serious you plan to be about landscape. What you have is fine. But are you thinking of trying to work with photo stacking to increase, well, everything? Then you may want to consider some wide (or not so wide if you want to stitch as well) primes. Like so many things in life the choice of a tool depends on the job you want to do.

You have what you need. You'll find that longer focal lengths produce less distortion and the slight "compression" effect is often desirable. If you stitch panoramas you'll find you have as wide a view as you will ever need and with way more pixels than an ultra wide lens.

With a full frame camera I tend to use a 45mm or an 85mm lens for most landscapes, and sometimes as long as 150mm.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with using a crop sensor camera for landscape. Hell, I even use my Sony RX10M4, with it's tiny 1" sensor, for landscapes.

I think you're sitting already pretty with what you have, I would wait til your budget grows to something usable and then decide if something else is really needed!

You can buy the Canon EF-S mount 10-18 MM which will still be an 10-18 MM on a crop sensor camera.

I have one and very happy with it.

Only problem with that idea is that the 10-18 will not mount to the 6D. However it would be perfect for the 7DII.

I just came back from a Canadian Rockies trip, Banff NP and Jasper. 95% of the time, I used a 24-70. For landscape scenes that included a great night sky, I used a 17-35 2.8.
