Any opinions on what might be a good remote control for my FZ300 bridge camera? As you might guess shooting at 600mm zoom requires a tripod and I would like to have a remote for it, information would be appreciated..

Page 323 from the manual: If you use the shutter remote control (DMW-RSL1: optional), you can avoid jitter (camera shake) when using a tripod and you can keep the shutter pressed fully when taking pictures with [B] (Bulb) or Burst Mode. The shutter remote control works similar to the shutter button on the camera.

There are less expensive alternatives:

Usually a manufacturer makes some remote control software that's available for free on their website. In my case, Sony remote software allows me to set up my camera outside while I sit in comfort inside at the other end of a long long USB cable with my laptop, while controlling the focus, exposure, and shutter. I see on my laptop what the camera is seeing and the shutter lag time is near zero so when I push the button on my laptop, the camera's shutter responds with alacrity.

Other software packages advertise wireless Bluetooth based controls via cell phone or tablet, but I don't think they allow remote viewing with "lagless" shutter response.

Check what your camera's manufacturer offers on their website for free download.
