Good Evening Gents,
I'm from North Yorkshire, England , I was a Regimental Unit Photographer in the British Army mainly using a film camera , I want to get back into photography and move into Digital but there is so much choice out there, my cameras in the past have all been 'Pentax' , but I may try something different. Any help or advice will be taken in
Welcome. I won't give an opinion on what camera. There is too much information needed from you to offer any advice.
You should be happy with Pentax, Sony, Canon, Nikon,...
The best thing is to go hold one for the "fit", see what it can do, and check reviews of the models you might be interested in using.
I won't suggest any for the reason that what I like, you may not. Kinda like a car (or truck).
Welcome to UHH. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax and others all make very good cameras. First though, what type of photography do you want to do? Knowing that will help members recommend a specific model of camera.
Things to consider when buying a camera, are you going to shoot sports, fast action, wildlife, landscapes, people, in low light, etc.? Also, what is your budget, how much can you afford, or how much do you want to spend? All those can factor in to what camera would be better for you.

Now there's a coincidence!
With most expensive cameras, you're paying for features you might rarely use. Get and learn Photoshop and save your money on expensive cameras. From there, it's about your ability to detect a great visual and how, and where, and when to shoot it. Remember that a great lens with a cheap camera is better than a cheap lense with s great camera. And, never make the equipment do the work for you, like they say: first get out of the car.
Welcome to the Hog, enjoy.
Welcome to the forum.
