They usually perch low, hunt from the air flying fast and low and they are, more often than not, just out of range. I see a lot of them in the Northern Sacramento valley but I rarely get an opportunity to photograph them. I grew up calling them Marsh Hawks. These are all females.

Yes they are! They are wonderful to watch when they are on the hunt and I am often content to just be a watcher. Thanks for the visit Gary, always appreciated.

It certainly has it only lasted a couple of days! Now we have gale force winds and heavy rain!
