I agree Steve. I too tend to get better final images with a Nikon 1.4 tc than a crop. Thanks for the advice on only cropping 2 sides. I’ll remember that. Good read.

GREAT article! Thanks. Didn’t realize cropping introduced noise. I recently bought Luminar 2018 and know it has a de-noise filter. I’ll use it whenever I need to crop.

I like what you state though I usually crop for getting the rule of thirds more than enlargement of the subject.
