Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum. I’m desperately attempting to become self sufficient in my photography business, which has been on the back burner for years. I’m getting too old to be a vet tech now! Lol. I currently own a Sony A77ii but want to move to another camera. I’m open to any brand, but do have nice Sony lenses. I shoot horses and dogs mostly. And you know how quick they are. Equine shoots are very particular about which leg should be up at which time, if you’re not familiar. This requires quick response time and often difficulty at low light in indoor arenas with large doors producing bright, uneven lighting. My current camera is OK at working through this, but I’m still not in love with the brand. I was a Nikon girl for years. The settings are weird to me... so, any suggestions are much appreciated. I’m looking to spend some money, and get what I really will love. I’ve looked at the D850 and the A99ii. But, I’m also leaning towards Canon. I love my A1 (oh yeah, I’m talking film, which is much different! ) any help is much appreciated! Nice to meet you all!
Meg

To get the legs where they need to be I shoot as rapid as the camera will go.

Welcome to UHH Meg, glad you joined us. Like your post. You mentioned the Nikon D850. From what I have read this is a fantastic low light camera which solves one of your problems.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.

Don

Welcome Meg and wonderful photograph! I'm a Canon girl and love to shoot dogs also. I recently upgraded from the 7d to the 7dii and it does a pretty good job with the action shots. I shoot some competitions so know what you mean about the lighting. I've not found a good indoor area yet for taking those spectacular photos, but you may want to rent first-which is what I've done with a lot of my lens's before purchasing. I'm very happy that I made the upgrade from my 7d to the 7dii (10 fps), but I'm a canon user thru and thru!

Welcome! Having spent time in Arizona, Wyoming, and in Texas now, I love western art and photos. Love this photo! At 71 years young, I like to experiment in B&W with past subjects such old/antique items and Western scenes. I think this photo would be nice also in B&W. If you haven’t tried it, do so and post a pic of both for comparison! If you don’t like it, no problem! I try to think outside the norm and sometimes it works and sometimes not. Welcome and good luck in making great photos!
