These are great! What do you use to play the species’ calls?

Great shots! Appreciate the info, gear as well as settings. I'd like to see more of that here, makes it easier to learn from other people's experience.

Wonderful images Jak. As others have stated, thanks for including the camera settings and I think playing the species' call was a great idea. Your patience was well rewarded. Bev

Absolutely outstanding jak. Your patience and perseverance paid off big time. You've inspired me to venture out of my comfort zone and explore a place I've not yet visited. Thanks for sharing.

A great set. Very beautiful photos. Extremely fine focus. Mahalo for sharing.

Why thank you, JoAnne. I had a great time finding the Tanager and taking all of the shots. It's nice to have a place to share them. Glad you enjoyed them. It's much easier to focus when you can get close to the subject. So often I have to crop excessively and the photos aren't as sharp. Luckily not so much in these shots. jak

Very nice photos, but no Western tanager.

Thanks. The Western Tanager is more common here, but I haven't seen one or heard of others seeing one in a while. I'll keep my eyes and ears open. jak

Bill,

I feel very fortunate to be able to get out and forage around during the winter, as I know many UHHers can't due to the weather. I'm learning about the birds and practicing my photography skills and I hope it shows in these and other shots. Have a nice day and a great weekend. jak
