Migrating Lightroom 6.14 to brandnew Macbook Pro

I'm wondering if others have had this issue and how you resolved it. I ran LR 6.14 on my nearly 10 year old macbook pro and just purchased a new macbook pro. I used Time Machine to migrate all files over to the new MBP and only Lightroom 6.0 migrated. Now, on the new machine, when trying to open up LR, it will not let me past the splash screen offering to sign me up for the free trial of LR.
Not sure where to go from here...I attempted to chat with Adobe, told them the issue, and their response was "there is a glitch in the system, contact us back in 4 to 5 hours." Weird. Anyone have a help suggestion?

You have to install it.

I wondered about that because I think you have to go from 6.0 to 6.14 using a patch link. Those links are no where to be found now, I guess because of Adobe no longer supporting the product.
But would I need to uninstall 6.0, then do a reinstall, and perhaps then find the link for 6.14? I'm puzzled.

If I remember correctly,You need to open the LR on your old Mac and tell adobe to not run on the old mac . I forgot the expect adobe terminology for this action, since You can only run LR on one machine. Then you can run LR on your new machine and update to LR 6.14.

You don’t need to reinstall LR. Time machine already installed LR for you. But you need to tell Adobe you want to run LR on the new Mac. I am a mac user and did the iMac upgrade about two years ago also moved LR to the new Mac.

I have to say that the better solution is the subscription CC plan.

That said, Adobe does support the product. For a bunch of reasons, they just don't continue or update perpetual versions. Support comes from supplying the files and providing an active user forum. You can still buy a fresh copy of Lightroom 6 perpetual. Active telephone support for software rapidly going past due is not a reality!

I've not done this, but an Adobe link continues to have the download files. You can get 6.14 directly and should be able to apply your serial number.

Thanks everyone for the replies and information. Got it solved...I contacted adobe online support and it was all good. The adobe person said to click on the "license this software" (I think that's what the button said) at the bottom of the splash screen. That give you the windows to put in your product serial number. Put it in and bam! LR opened right up! And there was nothing else to do to update it to the 6.14 as when it opened up, it opened as the 6.14. I guess I couldn't get past the little button that said "Start your free trial."
I know the subscription is the way to go for a lot of folks but that's not for me. When the LR 6.14 no longer provides what I need, I'll move on to another product that I can buy.

Yet, you can buy a top of the line Mac Book Pro. What part of Adobe offends you so much?

Yes, good question. So, I'm not a professional photographer by no means, and do all my photo editing in LR and have since back before 4.0 (I think). I do not know photoshop and have never used that, and currently don't feel the need at this point to learn it. When that changes, they perhaps the subscription would be the way to go but for now, the LR standalone works for me.

Even if you just use photoshop for spot removal it's worth it. Does a way better job than lightroom.

No question that Lightroom 6.14 continues to work.

That said, the subscription and Lightroom Classic CC works better. A single example is the Dehaze tool, but there are many more.

Then, as mentioned, you get Photoshop. The problem with it is that it is so complex and full of parts useless to photographers. What Lightroom users do is learn just the most useful parts for them and nothing more.

Finally, you get (cloud) Lightroom which can be largely a useless distraction for 6.14/Classic CC users. But like Photoshop, it can be an accessory to your tried and true computer based workflow. One example is taking a few images you want to show someone, put them in a dedicated collection, sync them to (mobile) Lightroom CC, make a "Web Gallery" and send a link to it via email, text, social media or even UHH!

Well, I stand corrected - glad that someone chimed in with the Mac-specific process. Sorry for providing bad advice. My bad . . .
