I am wanting to create a website. However, its "just" for my Lacrosse pics so parents and players can view and or print them for their own use. I'm not looking to make money on these. I would prefer a free site or minimal start up fee site. I have looked at Wix and not sure if that is over the top for what I would like. I even looked at a forum setup as maybe parents and players could talk about the game over the pic. IDK... this is all very new to me and want something that is easy for me to setup with low cost....ANY suggestions would be wonderful!! Thank you in advance!

Have you looked at Flickr? I don't know much about the site, but it came to mind. There is also Squarespace, but that is a paid site, I think.

Pixieset has a free option with limited space. It has a nice mobile web site. Otherwise use something like Dropbox or Google Drive. Shutterfly is ok if your team is using it, otherwise it requires an initial login.

Drop Box or One Drive???

I use One Drive to upload pictures and send people a link to view/download them.
The free account is sufficient size for me.

I've had the same questions for years and haven't found that true format I've been searching for. Wix is going to be very difficult for some as it's more for the technically minded person who wants everything in it's place and lined up. I've tried it twice without success.

There's Tumblr, but this to has it's drawbacks.. you have to wade through nonsense topics which great you every time you log in, Tumblr would be risky as there could be some objectionable images or comments.

Flickr is ok.. as a photo site but again the format is not designed to allows a chat session or forum to take place.

Then there's Weeby, at one point it does allow for a forum add on, but I found this to be to glitchy. Again I've tried them all and just not pleased with the end results.

However, I've ended up on wordpress for the 3rd time and it seems to be going very well. The good thing about wordpress, is that you can add others to your blog of sorts and they can be allowed to comment or even upload their own images based on your admin rights.

Then there's something called Groupsite.. there is a fee for more than 25 members and storage space. I like the idea of having a format that allows others to comment which you've allowed to comment. I think if you want a secure site which allows for multiplier members, you need to think groupsite type of format.

Another way to look at this would be to create a forum on boardhost or proboards. However, there's no place to store your images within their serves, so all images would have to be linked off site like photobucket or flickr etc.

Look at Flickr. No passwords / accounts for team members to view. Free to use, both for you and others. You can organize images into albums, such as by game or by year. Their main goal: We want to help people make their photos available to the people who matter to them.

I do this for football at my local high school and use Shutterfly. It is easy to set up a share site that the players and parents can view the pictures and download at no cost. Easy peasy!

Navywife,

Navy husband here! If you are already using the Adobe plan with the Lightrooms, there is a very quick and easy "Web Gallery" function available.

This would be my suggestion too but be aware of free limitation put in a few weeks ago...

"Flickr is quickly growing in popularity, largely because they’re willing to offer 1TB of photo storage absolutely free. Although free users will have to deal with some ads you really can’t beat that deal. Beginning January 8, 2019, Free Accounts will be limited to 1,000 photos and videos. If you need unlimited storage, you’ll need to upgrade to Flickr Pro.

People are also able to follow you and comment on your shots, making it kind of like a social network, in addition to being a place to store your photos."

When my wife asks - What to do - me that I am usually in trouble...

My wife uses shutterfly. That site apparently lets folks order whatever as long as they have access to your images.

Note: A password protection is a must as you address a specific group of folks, not the whole wide world.

Have a look at www.slickpic.com.
Ive used them for years. You would only need the free version for what you want.
You can see my set up by clicking on the link below my name.

Take a peek at Smugmug. Not too much moolay and pretty good ordering program. A friend uses it for his youth sport shots and works quite well.

I just started posting some pictures of my grandson's hockey team. I have an Amazon Prime account... they provide unlimited storage for photos. I can upload the photos at high res, and just provide the link to the album to allow team members and family to access and download.

I use both Google Photos (my preference) and Flickr. I take pictures for my groups and post links to them. People can look, download, and print - all for free. As I said, I prefer Google Photos, but some people like Flickr, so I post to both. "Photos" seems easier and more flexible. A web sit can involve a lot of work and a lot of money.
