The weather forecast for Sunday 1/27/19 said chance of snow but chances throughout the day for some sun with a high of 3 degrees and wind. I went and ran an errand to town (60 mile round trip) and only momentarily saw some sun. I took a route home that might give some photo opportunities but gray skies and snow was all I saw. Just as we passed the road to Point Betsie, we were in a "no snow" pocket, so we turned around and went to the lighthouse. To my surprise and delight, the clouds parted a little, and I got to see a patch of blue, or two. By the time I stopped photographing, I could not feel my gloved fingers, my legs were froze, as were my cheeks, but I was smiling from ear to ear.

Some nice catches on what sounds like a horribly cold day!

Really, REALLY, cold describes it well. My dear supportive 'better half' ventured into the cold to check on me a few times, but mostly stayed in the warm truck waiting. It took a long hot shower later when we got home before I warmed up, but it was worth it. I had fun!

Thanks, I thought so too. We have some snow falling today and all area schools are closed. Temps are around 0, windchills about -17. It was similar yesterday, just less predicted snow.

#4 is my very favorite. I could see that hanging on a wall.

Very nice job. Frozen smile? Just can't make out what your logo says, but it's pretty. Oh! It was 22 degrees BELOW ZERO the day I got married. That was 63 years ago in upstate NY. Didn't think it was cold then, but...

Thank you. I struggled with some "bad" versions of that shot, not composed well. That one I did better on, and it shows fairly well how pretty the scene was.

I especially like the red along with the blue sky. I think a little red is always a plus in a snow scene.Being from the south I am impressed that you even got out of the car with that low temp. The photos were worth it.

My logo is a nickname given to me by a coworker... SueFi Photography. I love hearing the story of your wedding. … and yes, it was a frozen smile! :) Thank you.

There are very few reasons I would go out in such cold, and the love of photography is one of them. I agree with your thoughts about the red... and I was happy enough with the photo results too, to handle such cold.

The cold does not seem too noticeable …. until it is absolutely freezing.. which seems to happen about the time I feel I am done photographing a scene.

I know exactly what you mean! I get into the "zone", and don't notice the cold until I'm pretty much done.
