The last time I bought a complete set of Epson ink cartridges for my Epson XP-830 printer it set me back $100. $100!!! Comparateandsave.com offers compatible ink cartridges for this printer for only a little more than half that price. Has anyone had experience buying ink jets from this business and, if so, how do they work? Does anyone have a suggestion on another place to buy ink jets?

Many products we buy are definitely overpriced. Buy a new key for your car, and it will cost over $300. The dealer installed one wheel lock per wheel on my son's new Honda. If he didn't have the dealer remove them, that would have added $113 plus tax to the price of the car. This is for something that costs about $10 in the real world.

I refill my cartridges, and if that's not possible, I buy from inkfarm or one of the others.

I posted a while ago about an HP 2600 printer I bought at a temporary sale on Amazon. The price delivered was $19. I'm using HP ink because, for some reason, it's cheap. I think I paid $26 for one black and one color cartridge. Even generic ink has trouble competing with that price.

i use an Epson 4750 ink tank printer came with 2 years worth of ink no cartridges to replace ran about $450.00 at Best Buy and prints up to 8 1/2 x 11 doing a pretty good job for my D810. I bought the extra set of refill bottles about $52.00.

Despite the fact that this printer only has three ink colors + black, I'm very pleased with the output of mine. I'm haven't done it yet, but I'm going to try a side-by-side comparison with a Pro-10 a friend has for grins one of these days.

If I need top quality for something, I'll send it out, though the pro-100 deals do tempt me at times.

I have an Epson X-830 printer (which uses a photo black, as well as 3 color cartridges, BTW, nice.) and I've bought cartridges from LD Products in Long Beach CA for a few years for this model and its 2 predecessors. The printer has recognized the cartridges without a non-oem cartridge you're a bad-boy notice being displayed like with HP, and has printed up to 5x7 without a hiccup. I do have to clean the nozzles after not using the printer for a month, but that is standard practice.

While I can't help you with Epson ink cartridge info; I suggest you check out the Epson ET-2550 printer or a later version of same. This is a machine with four tanks [no cartridges involved]. The tanks for me last almost a year and cost about $14.00 each. I believe I have saved a great bundle by going to this machine. The 2550 also gives great results to paper and photo paper prints and downloads equally fine resolution shots to computer photo program.
Good luck,

Larry

All you have to do is go with a quality HP printer and sign up for their ink replenishment program. I pay $9.00/month. They ship free, I never run out and it works GREAT!

Funny thing about the quality of HP. They are soon to be at a court in a law suit for stoppage of working on several models. That is because those models stopped working correctly when a third party ink supply was used.

I have used Canon printers for nearly 20 years and only used after market ink. Most of my printing is pictures. The only problem I ever had was solved after running a cleaning cycle on my printer. I have used ink from a co. in New Hampshire until recently and now from Amazon. I still have most of my original prints
and they look just fine. The one constant OEM product I use is paper, always Canon's better grade. During
this time I have tried other brand machines and none did the job I desired. I also tried cheaper paper and most worked OK but the saving was not enough to bother with.

Same here, I use the same service for my Officejet Pro 8720. I do not print photos on it. For photos that I plan on framing I use a Canon Pro 100 with OEM inks. If anyone is selling their work, only use OEM inks.

If the owners put in a non-approved cartridge they will propably loose.
It will be interesting to watch.

Check out Precision Colors. Their ink for my Epson Artisan 1430 appears to be of high quality. They sell a complete refill system: 6 refill cartridges filled with ink, six 4 oz. bottles of refill ink, needle -like tops for the bottles, all for $100. I am currently on my second set because over the last 14 months I refilled the original cartridges 7 times prior to purchasing the second set. Purchasing ink from good companies, others have mentioned above, would have cost me $350 (approximately $50 each refill plus postage). I believe there are at least 2 other UHHs who also use this system.

NEVER use 3rd-party ink cartridges on any inkjet printer. You risk doing serious damage to your printer. Also, not all ink formulations are the same. Off brand inks will often not give you the results you desire. Actually, $100 for a set of ink cartridges is not unreasonable.

If you love the photos that you are getting from your printer, don't fret over the cost, just enjoy your prints. You may want to limit the number of photos that you print at home. I send the bulk of my prints to SmugMug because you can choose luster paper and they do an awesome job. Specialty sizes or the need for an immediate print are two of the reasons that I print at home...plus I ALWAYS like the home prints better.

Also, I won't even CONSIDER "compatible" inks for my Canon printer. I have ruined more than one print head doing so. I'm a slow learner. LOL

That's my opinion. Good luck!
